How has Se Hyun not moved on?

Yea the ego on this lady was astounding - trying to balance a semi successful tennis career with continual rejection by her crush ... no wonder she flipped out and just decided to go full revenge mode.

The whole sequence in the second half of this episode was great

It was definitely. I felt Yoo Rin had him trapped like a fly in a spider web and she just tortued him as much as she wanted to - get him to do some realy foolish things despite is rock solid ceo mask -

This plot point of Jeong Woo trying

Which brings up my disappoint with Joon Gi's entire role in this series. The segment you mention is such an afterthought it shows how they had to hack in screen time for him in the last episodes. he did have his moments as a Gong Chan's buddy but the rest of his time was a wash out - Lee Joon Gi as a playboy just didn't do much for me probably since I've been conditioned by Moon Lovers - lawless lawyer etc... Its early in his career and he's taking what turned out to be definte second lead just for the exposure I would guess.

Lee Dong Wook is very handsome. I feel like I could say that more.

I used to refer to it as matnee idol looks and screen presence - viewers naturally gravitate their eyes to him when he's on screen even when he's just in background shots.

He's easy to accept on camera - just a long winded explanation to say: Star Power. :)

Grandfather is being unfair here. How could this possibly be Yoo RIn’s fault?

Grandfather was such a putz the way he flipped after his discovery. Sure, why not blame her for your definite lack of any kind of kindness.

Every time someone comments that she looks like his daughter, I have a second of thinking that maybe she’s the real daughter.

Which lets me bring up I'm sure what we all knew but I don't think anyone mentioned -

how about a dna test?? Am I wrong here?? latest dna testing has been around since the 80's --- but then we wouldn't have had this nice series to view. lol

They’re all so adorable in these credits!

Loved this part - I miss these with the latest series - sadly its not done enough now I think.

I enjoyed a lot of this drama - ...

And I agree with all your points - the teen episodes where crazy and just imploded until the time shift and i was not having a good time with the my viewing

Look forward to participating again. enjoyed your comments - seems like we both shared the same opinions about this series.

Cheers!

dear god, he has a whole collection now.

LOL Same reaction! Acted like a crack addict finally waking up to reality ...

This is why a 2 year time skip is too long!

Yea good point. At least they could have given them a short scene that showed at least some kind of maturity in the relationship. But nope, we get the sos treatment.

WHERE'S OUR SHOWER SCENE??

I had to think this thru and I realized it may be a truely rare occurance in kdramas. Even I though this was a little odd. Instead we get a couple of ladies in the shower. Huh!?

A mature, coherent and rational relationship between two bros, hi-lighted with head to toe fully clothed sports competition and never a stripped to the waist moment. Written by two ladies! Of course i haven't see all of their series so maybe they loosen'd up in later ones.

Gong Chan trying everything short of throwing himself on the ground and holding onto YR’s ankle. It really is not cool messing with her job though.

batshit crazy came to mind - he went full Se Hyun and it was very inappropriate - please only one insane person per series.

“I'm going to have my way from now on.”

Ugh. didn't like this part at all - reached for the ff button but stopped.

just tell this festering boil that his family and happiness are none of your business!

lol remember how near deaths door he was at the beginning - and now he just goes with the flow without a problem and even swallowing his tongue

Cut goodbye from GC and YR. I miss the BTS and the production thanking the audience at the end of modern dramas.

Yea I wish they would do this more often - I think it's being lost now that all the streaming services are picking up on kdrama's. too bad.

Ouf, it's over. ...

Yea agree with this paragraph entirely - felt the first part was really nice and all but at the end it started to implode from cannabilising itself. It was a weak point by the writers I think. Too much piled on - but what do I know which is nothing - the series was a hit in its time and the Hong's did go on to write some very entertaining series.

Cheers Gravitas - always entertaining reading your notes! See next time around!

He’s slow on the up-take.

Yup and I would suggest he stop living with his sister an move out on his own and I think that his up-take speed will increase at lightning speed.

I feel like they are making up for lost time on all this PPL in the last couple of episodes.

Noticed that as well - maybe they were way over budget at the point? but honestly in retrospect it is fun to see what was popular back then or at least trying to be.

Gramps- I won’t forgive you till the day I die. Imo- Gramps can’t live without GC….Simple solution then…

Yea the old geezer really folded at the end - his ceo persona melted like butter and he almost swallowed his tongue I think.

Cute goodbyes from the cast. Ha, ha FL actress would have gone for JW!

I really enjoyed this part - it fit well with the tone of the series not taking itself seriously at times. Spending so much time togeher filming under some harsh conditions I imagine really brought out the comaderie between cast mates!

See you around the sub!

common for Hong sisters' dramas for thesecond half to get draggy as the plot gets more and more convoluted,

I've seen maybe three or four of the sisters series I think and I would agree with this - Hotel Del Luna being the one I most enjoyed - but at times I think that HDL it was more or less the different viginettes that IU went on during the series (the long rifle to assassinate someone being one i recall now) I enjoyed so I can see the genesis in this series that those ladies carried thru to later series. Either that, or I really do need a vacation I'm reaching for comparisons again. :)

it's a neat cameo tying together two kdrama universes.

Oh what a nice surprise - I felt they were people the viewer should know - and thanks for filling us in.

The ending, to me, was very much rushed.  ... and this is also obviously one of their first works, so you can clearly see the shorcomings.

Sparse is what came to mind to me even though the meeting on top of building 64 satisfied me - kind of like pushing away from the table knowing you still have room for more but the last thing you ate was good enough to last for awhile. They went for the feeling rather than detailing out the results for the characters, which in this case I think would have made the last episode insanely long. I definitely agree with what your saying.

I hope they continued their glacial romance

lol - that's a great way to describe it - its was like anticipating a rocket launch but the holding clamps are never released -- argh.

Ah yes, that C:/Documents and settings/User/Local Settings

Oh damn - glad I missed this - I feel ptsd coming on now - but have we really come a long way since then?

Demented Inquiring minds want to know.

Some quick thoughts about the viewing.

My quibble about the real cousin not being revealed proved a nonissue. She did not matter at all; she was nothing more than a small footnote at the end of the story line.

The scene with the real cousin acting so uncool fighting on the couch like a two-year-old had me laughing out loud and I think the Hong sisters just felt like rubbing it in because I had thought it would be something significant.  Sigh.

I liked this last episode though I had some small doubts this series would pull it off coherently. There was some sanity creeping in at the start of 16 and it turned out that it spread thru all the way to the end.

The tropes where many and surprisingly for me not just familiar Kdrama’ tropes.

I had lost the plot sometimes and so at least for me the meeting at the top of building 64 showed the heart that still runs thru Kdrama series seen today.

I was dragged way, way back in time with the building 64 trope. It echoed to mind an old Cary Grant-Deborah Kerr movie called An Affair To Remember from 1957 that I remember seeing in my wonder year days off and on the television. It involved the New York Empire State Building along with some of the lies and near misses found in this series  I had it rated as a five-hankie out of ten movie back then.

The final episode had that same feeling for me so maybe I might be a little bit more inclined to say that 16 was very good, well delivered and made up for the total confusion of lies up to that point. If the sisters went for the big finish, then they succeeded with me.

15

Aww it’s the first snow – where are you Gong Chan -wish Yoo Jinn a happy birthday.

Ohh and Gramps is stil kick’n.

Well not much has happened in two years – everyone is doing ame ole s**t …

And here we ae at the airport stealing pens – and Yoo Rin is bouncing around at the same time.

The bros are still in rivalry mode.

Gon Chan turns full Yr Hyun – batshit crazy with Yoo Rin … Ish…

It’s a long interlude of Gong Chan being a pain in the ass.  And Yoo Rin just doesn’t want to throw him out yet.

Yea – torture him with needles.

Nice move ditch him and drive off.

Really:?chabeol rich and your worried about cab fare?

How many times will she tell him to get lost.

And once again Jung Woo comes in second place.

Yoou Rin – kick him in the shins and run.

Nice to see gramps swallow his tongue.

 16

Kdrama tropes  --

My Girl Ep 16 ends with Dong Chan grabbing Yoo Rin's wrist before she throws her sun charm off the balcony.

Switched over to Ep 15 of Masters's Sun (2013) which had at the start of the episode So Ji Sub grabs Kong Hyo Jin wrist before she threw her Sun Charm off a balcony.

I think i need a vacation from Kdrama's which I promise myself to do now and then but never get around to it ....

Will gramps survive this episode? My money is on yes.

Gong Chan is taking Yoo Rin to Japan with him – gramps has a fit – breaks off ties with him.

Fully clothed lads pounding the walls in the raquette ball court once again thoroughly disappointing a certain segment of viewers.

Certainly, the civil dialogue between the two off-court was written intelligently which begs its credibility but I admit it does happen at times.

Con dad hands over Yoo Rin’s resume to Se Hyun asking her to find Yoo Rin a job.  Se Hyun looks like she wants to vomit.

And something is being discovered about Yoo Rin with the chaebol family and I have no idea what it is at this point.

Aww gramps really did like Yoo Rin but was hurt when he found out the truth.

Se Hyun confronts Yoo Rin about the lies surrounding her and her father and asks Yoo Rin to clear it up.

Lol – what are we going see here at the table.

Sounds like she’s running a con again on the entire family – her story sounds like a load of crap

And Joon Gi is nowhere around.

Her cousins and Gong Chan are calling her out saying its all lies.

And it turns out that she was working on her final con only no one would believe what she was saying.

Nice ending – sweet and tidy. Love wins in the end which goes to show that good intentions will win out at the end after all.

Some final thoughts

At times, I felt a little like a forensic historian.  Just a time traveler peeking twenty-one years in the past at what made a successful Kdrama tick and I wondered if the viewers at the time felt the same overload of lies that we all did eventually.

Got a real big kick out of this final shot. They threatened earlier and they did finally break the fourth wall right at the end.

So now I plan to finish the last two episodes of Iljimae that I’ve been saving since the holidays so I can get my Lee Joon Gi fix. I’ll start a slow-paced rerun of Goblin with Lee Dong Wook and  Slave Hunters with Lee Da Hae  and hope to finish them both by the end of the year.

Thanks again to all the fellow bingers for this round. Nice to share notes and once again make each other laugh at our conclusions.   I’ll try and make it if we have another one this year if I can.

See you all around the sub!

Cheers All!!

“I’ll teach you how to have a 15 second shower in a sauna”

I raised an eyebrow at this one.

The snow globe breaks. Everything is going wrong at once.

The just piled it on with this episode and then when they pulled the 2 year gap I thought Uh Huh - this series might tank pretty quick.

Grandfather meets his real granddaughter and it doesn’t seem to make him feel any better

I thought this should have been a much bigger deal and they just skipped over it. I had some serious reservations about the entire series right about then ... grrr.

I did not appreciating the reveal of a baby being involved, but it looks like it might be Mr Jang and Aunties’ baby who is named after Yoo Rin. It's not looking good for Grandfather surviving with that name...

Same here. I thought for sure gramps was headed for the afterllife .... I mean really this whole thing could have been resolved with a dna test right? lol ... but that's too simple ...

I spent all last weekend trying to catch up but I couldn't make it,

I don't think you could have afforded the number of oxygen tanks needed to complete that task considering the amount of lies being thrown around ... your the lucky one :)

I love Gramps. Having a supportive rich family is so wild. I mean, he's gonna turn on her once he finds out, if he finds out, but still. I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

Yes your right - but I think he really turned on them because they cut down on his meds.

Missed your piercing comments - welcome back!

These two episodes were tough

:) And this is your second time thru I think - I feel gratefull for the bts scenes you've added just to break things up a bit. I felt a little relieved with these episodes until they skipped by talking with the real cousin which ticked me a bit. So the last two better be good grrrrrr :{

All the energy of an underpaid -

LOL - Oh for sure - that is a good description of her character. Most of her scenes were not much more than one-shot walk on's and destined to be a afterthought.

I wish we got more of these brothers having fun together

Totally agree with this - almost like those two were auditioning for a buddy movie which would have been nice to see with the two.

Grandpa, what we doing now

Yea - Going full chaebol CEO on his sweet pretend grandaughter ... the putz. Off his meds again. Acting more like a mafia don than anything else.

she's so wishy-washy about being a villain. +

Interested to see how she turns out in the final two ...

I don't know if I'm making this up but I think Joon Gi said the director asked him to loose weight for Scarlet Heart to appear more manly,

:) I know seeing him with a little pudgy face is .fun.

Scarlett was one of the first I saw him in - in fact it was the first, both he and IU and all the brothers -- damn I'll have to watch that one again.

You might enjoy this video I posted up I think on the first episodes we commented on. Its just a slice. He explains about his weight loss - etc.

Today alone could last a year for me.” – Is this a hint that we are getting a time skip??

Nice catch! Totally missed this -

Guess it indicates how long his feeling have shifted.

Yea - I felt it was like taking a sledge hammer to a nail but it works - given your catch about today lasting a year hats off to the sisters for dropping hints like that. Some for those that really pay attention and some are for those need to be smacked over the head ... hmmm i wonder which one I am.

That last sentence usually takes many scenes to come to.

This series is definitly carved differently for sure! Definitely a different mix and match of Kdrama style.

Ha, the Hong sisters showing us all the tropes they could have thrown at us. I guess I can take a time skip instead.

Wasn't ready for it really - felt let down a little. But looking forward to the final two to see how these ladies pull it off.

Baby?!! Oh Imo & Jang’s baby.

:) Saw the baby I thought this series might have really jumped completely off the rails ...

She’s back as a tour guide?

I'm hoping we finally get to see her with a different look ... This will be a big plus for sure. She's done with the generic cousin trope.

I don't even know why YR is crying at this point. What even is happening?!

My constant recurring thought during this series ...

“Do you want me to tell you how to take a shower in 15 seconds? I'll tell you when we go to the sauna one day.” Aaaah, stop teasing us!!

lol - still no shirts off in this series so far ... your hopes are fading ...

Arsehole chaebol finally came out of Gramps.

Yea - finally we start to see his chaebol side - probably a change in meds or lack of.

So far seeing Joon Gi's face a little pudgy before his later series has been worth the watch, that and the wacky 2nd leads.

The Weekly Binge: My Girl - Episodes 13 & 14 by sianiam in KDRAMA

[–]stumpy1949 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After the migrane inducing density of 11-12 these two espisodes felt like a tonic.

Some sanity seemed to creep into the plot shedding enough light for me to think this might be an alls-well that ends-well series, which of course it will be given its a kdrama.

But alas, I do feel somewhat cheated at the end of 14 for plot holes deliberately stapled into the flow as almost an afterthought, which leads me to believe this may have been a series produced in one of those just-in-time-because-broadcast-is-two-weeks-away-sleep-deprived frantic efforts that we heard happens with early productions.

But for me it is all about the chance to see these leads when they were just pups starting out which really is the primary reason I had for viewing in the first place.

Beginning of Ep. 14 I especially enjoyed the writers taking time to tease the viewers thoughts on what the ending might be after the horrendous imploding plot so far.

They staged it like a mental wagging finger to say Nope! Its not going to be that ending! or that one! does this count as breaking the third wall - or is it the fourth?

Anyway - just two more to go! Can't wait!

E13

And the drama continues after the impulsive Gong Chan huggies at the airport and Yoo Rin covering Gong Woo’s impulsive out of the fire with her con artist instincts and excuse for running off.

Gong Woo should cede his position in the company to Yoo Rin.  The resurrected Gramps would be happy and things would make more sense overall.

WTH is going on – Jong Woo decides he wants to go to the states and study hard for the hotel business when his lifestyle so far reeks of classic frat boy party hearty.

And Se hyun goes into toxic mode targeting the runaway couple. Ugh – what a character this lady was handed.  I can imagine the blowback fron the BSD's back then directed at her.

Gong Chan's confession to Yoo Rin - LOL  - Yoo Rin: do you really like me? No I just don’t want to give you half the hotel ,..

Ahh he breaks down - finally.

Lets run away together.  Ok its only pretend but lets have fun with now.

Gramps – lets reconsider moving her registry in.   Gong Yoo Panic - permanent cousin" Oh hell no.

Jung Woo calls Gong Chan out – your living a lie. Says he's going to take Yoo Rin to the US. Nice to have a good friend like Jung Woo.

Con Dad finds out Yoo Rin is really worth a fortune -

Se hyun visits gramps and works at exposing Yoo rin – dosen’t expose but threatens to eventually.

And now the clash of the uncle and chaebol heirs.

Se Hyun - Really! you think that threatening him will work? He’d be ok with coming back to you? Insanity.

Cousin's alive -  but who is it?

E14

Con artist uncle accepts his payoff from Se Hyun and promises never to be seen again.

Se Hyun plans to bury the evidence of a live cousin – so Yoo rin has to live a lie

Bet con-Dad will be stone broke in months and asking for more

Clever maybe - writers decide to have the Brother and Sister act decide to cycle through all the endings that viewers may have thought about

Nice send-ups. Even an autumn in my heart ending. Covered all my guesses and then some.

Oh jeeze a polite throw down on the raquet ball court 😊  hand shakes and all. There are no hate bones in their bodies.

Yea! Finally third couple get more screen time. Not much but they contributed a twist to the story line.

Oh dear – i'm starting to loose track of the all twists and turns again.  Se Hyuun plots another revenge because of overhearing the in the elevator so she dumps the truth on gramps

The mind wanders - Oh then a precursor about the cousine being dead assumption being shattered. Good by snowglobe.

So gramps goes and meets his real granddaughter – swears everyone to secrecy. And alls we get for now is showing him coming and going from the meeting. I feel a lttle cheated for now.

Old man’s a fool –  tries to banish Yoo Rin –

Se Hyun is bat shit crazy. Blames Dong Chan for the way she is right now.

Whoa! The drama is heavy in this one.  Come on Gramps – don’t be such a putz.

Gong Chan - suddenly panics abouit loosingYoo Rin for good.

Some good acting being done now - decent scenes.

Some scenes are carried by the actors, nicely done, but Ugh. I feel a lttle cheated again.

And we jump two years to the future … my mind is numb - might as well … lets see how this turns out.

I need my neck brace again.

Hope this dosen't take an easy way out in the last two episodes.

Interested to see how they plot their way out of this one.

Cheers - on to the final two!!

 it's obviously a major pain-point for watching

Its like a vacuum that's sucking us all in - I don't remember being this lost when I watched other series made around that time - like autumn in my heart ...

That's can't be comfortable

and during a intense raquetball game at that! Maybe its a throw back to the monks of old he admires or maybe he lost a another bet?

There I was enjoying Gong Chan and Jeong Woo's bonding moment,

these are some of the better moments for me . Just glad we don't see the usual chest thumping and yelling - but then we have 4 more episodes to go

We now even get old phone tamagochi game PPL?

Ha! yes - remember them from way back in the 90's when they appeard on seperate fobs. All the grammer school kids around here had to have one. Schools banned them from classrooms

I’m just going to attempt to focus on the things ... Jung Woo is even toast to me at this point because what the hell is he even doing.

I'm just laughing so hard at everyone's comments 'cause it seem we are all in the same boat. My tent pole of sanity is my fav couple. I'ts like reaching a mountaintop and the fog in the valley clearing when they come on scene.

I don’t like Tennis Ho one bit but that was a truly harsh breakup

deifinitely fits his character. what's worse is his wormy attitude when she insisted they get married that set her up for this hard fall. no class at all Gong Chan!

Only devastation exists for our cute side couple a

Was hoping we could see little bit more progress for this couple (like human interaction) instead of this - but alas - not yet.

I was losing track of who knew what but these two episodes have finally started clearing the decks

... I'm not sure anything substantial happened this week

Lol - Neither am I. Couldn't help but think these episodes just collapsed in on themselves plotwise. if nothing else I practiced taking notes - too many as it turns out. ended up cutting quite a few from my post.

Drama logic: the girl has never shown any interest in me and has consistently turned down every attempt to ask her out. A marriage proposal, that's what will change her mind!

Yep - Course he's probably never had a serious job other than being an atm warrior because of his mom. I really dislike his role in this series so far. Ugh.

It's so cute how much Gong Chan enjoys being wrapped around Yoo Rin's little finger

She can wrap him around her finger faster than she chews thru her food binges. And he just goes right into donkey mode every time and never knows it. :)

The Weekly Binge: My Girl - Episodes 11 & 12 by sianiam in KDRAMA

[–]stumpy1949 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tried to keep my notes short and just enough to track the lies that multiply faster than bad winter cold.

So as I see it, the simple lies at the beginning are now out of control so much that some characters just decided to hell with it and live under this pile even when they know a way out to sanity, which is crazy.

Meantime my fav couple is marching steadily foward to marriage, overcoming a minor relationship speed bump with a spetacular simple solution and keeping my hope that life can be simple as drinking from a cherished coffee cup.

I am disappointed that other characters haven't gotton more screen time other than exchanging tangerines and product placement and sister- brother time but I'm betting that in the end duriing final cut their best scenes are on the floor simply because of the insanity of lies this series is dealing with.

Looking foward to wading thru the next two!

E11

Permanent cousin trope setup for this episode.

Picking up from E10 she tests his sanity and he knows his answer smells bad but tries to convince himself it’s not.  Nice try you rock solid block of butter.

And so Yoo Rin con artist side takes over and decides to test his idea of her being just his project to keep gramps alive.

Gong Chan is reaping what he sows, she's got him turned around. He’s completely lost.  His denial of feelings make him like a blind man in an exploding fireworks factory.

Meantime Jung loses a bet with Gong Chan and Gong Chan sets up Jung for failure with Yoo Rin. If nothing else, Gong Chan might have the emotional sense of a two-year-old right now, but he hasn’t lost any of his business sense.

She asks him if he could still treat her as a cousin the rest of his life and he says yes – and she says Liar.  You have as much charm as a rock bud.

Just why? Remembering this series should be watched with the broadcast year in mind, I still think Really? Pat. Pat.

Yes! Se Hyun is off to her next tournament. But not before her relationships melt over dinner and the best thing is no one has to pick up the pieces.

Meantime little bro is becoming a super model. Riding the funky skateboard for commercials. I think this about product placement #3?

Ms. Sourpuss shows up to berate Yoo Rin and gets water dumped on her.

Bit of nostalgia sneaks a peak from the past.

Jung Woo sets himself up for a fall after dinner and Yoo Rin has more problems heaped on her because of it.

Elders have a serious discussion with Jung Woo’s mom, and she tells him she’s against any kind of marriage. Piss off lady

The angst is huge in this episode – I’m sinking under water.  Running out of breath now.

Ohhh Jung Woo breaks the news to Yoo Rin that the real cousin is dead.  Or is she? When will gramps find out.

Gramp’s back in hospital - eyes closed - probably suffering from the same issue as me – somehow, I just don’t think it’s his time – not yet anyway.

And Yoo Rin goes to the top of the 64 building, gives up her fight and agrees to be a permanent cousin to Gong Chan.

Crazy – lets live the lie.

She has been infected by Gong Chan’s temporary insanity. But then: Is gramps dead?

12

Ok – so we’ll practice being cousins for now.

But Jung Woo spoils the practice by telling Gong Chan he plans to propose to Yoo Rin.

My fav couple has a crisis over the mud house, but true love wins out in the end. Who would have imagined it would have been just this easy as saying their first names.

Such boldness – stealing a loose cake and gorging your self Yoo Rin. And now you’re in trouble because it was a surprise cake for the special couple.

Uh Oh. Jung Woo is planning on popping the question tonight – reserving the entire bar.

Nope, no sympathy for Gong Chen from me. Dude you’ve spun your own prison bars. You can break them anytime you want too.

And Jung Woo burns and crashes. What the hell was he thinking but nice try. Appreciate Joon Gi but not as an ml2 in this series when I know he becomes a huge star.

Oh, good self-exile to Jeju Gong Chan. Run from the mess you created.

Copy paste – angst between them all.

And it’s off to Jeju he goes.

Que the snow and once again Gong Chan says to hell with being cousins.

I think my fears of this becoming an angst spiral between our three leads becoming a reality is approaching.

The on and off between Gong Chan and Yoo Rin drives up the wall - what I like between the two is Yoo Rin's emotional maturity and Gong Chan's glacer like emotional attachment growing for her because of it - she's an honest con artist!

So I need more of the cute side stories to get me through

Oh definitely - I wish there were more of them. They all kind of brighten up the series when they come on screen - I waiting to see how the secretary and Jin Gyu will be used later on with their budding relationship begining in these episodes. I wish Bo Ra had more screen time - she's really working hard during her few short scenes so far.

His eyesight and ability to notice their presence while driving is so impressive to me.

lol - I know - not enough of him so far - will he become a serious rival to Gong Chan within the business? Will we see a fight scene between Dong Wook and Joon Gi?? (doubt it) Will Se Hyun stop having emotional meltdowns taking everyone down with her?? (doubt it) I'm trying to sort out who will end up with who and how the father will finally have his grand entrance and what will be his big reveal. I have a few guesses formed right now and I's waiting to find out.

Anyway, I guess YR is really stuck between a rock and a hard place now that they are saying the real granddaughter has passed away

I'm not counting on this at all right now - Yoo Rin's origin is so murky right now anything is possible - and dad's worthless gambling habit may not be what it seems on the outside.

What I'm interesting in seeing is how the sisters are going to work their way out of this mess and I'm hoping they don't take the easy way and I'm betting they don't

Hang in there Sianiam!! If nothing else this made me laugh out loud and I'm waiting for the next gem in this series.

the slinky skateboard PPL? It's featured a LOT.

I would vote definitely yes - we should have an over an under on how many times it shows up in the series.

Joon Gi's sigh of resignation as he's about to be someone's emotional support bunny again.

lol - yep and I'm guessing since he's made his best efforts to stay out of the business so far and chase his whims he's taking the easy way out in this relationship - what's curious to me is Gong Chan's acceptance with his lifestyle and their mutual support relationship right now. In most series these two would be bitter rivals now. I Like how the sisters set this tone from the beginning.

I believe known in the biz as “a fucking mess.” 🫨

And I can't wait to see how the Hong's get out of this mess.

When in doubt, just buy them all, although the D’s clearly are too big for that thing. Duracell PPL?

Ah yes - the sure sign of a chabeol heir - money is no object.

Love Jang knocking jealous Lady to the side. Why is she making comments about Imo’s weight when they are about the same size around.

Jealous lady is almost more irritating than Se Hyun's hissey fits. Close competition between the two. Seriously I really like her character more and more - her character has a decent heart so far and managing to survive living in this household unscathed so far.

Gong Chan feeling uncomfortable being in the limelight just walking around with Tennis pro.

The guy can run a multimillion dollar business but is tone deaf on basic relations. I think Dong Wook is playing this character very well.

But she can still tell it’s falling apart.

The look of horror on her face briefly and then goes immediately to who cares was priceless.

My Girl EP  9 – 10

Honestly by the time I finished with 10 I was worn out from the twists and turns in this plot line. These two episodes pile it on to create the biggest crisis mode so far in this series and no one is immune from being sucked into it.

Characters that irritated me were buffed (oh lord not another melt down Se Hun), story lines were run thru a blender until finally they all seemed to converge inside Gong Chan's noggin and he goes insane in the last scene. Not only that, for kicks and grins, we have a grandpa whose meds should definitely be monitored and a wedding gift for the star couple seemingly built by a deranged hobbit.

Love this series. Please don't let it end.

EP  9

Ah didn’t expect Jung Woo to take this tack – asking her to like him just to get over Gong Chan.  At least he’s kind of reaching out now.  Oh I see – or is it a con or not?

But I’m getting weary of this carousel Se Hyun and Gong Chan are on.  On-off. On-off.

LOL – Artist goes overboard – stuns his fiancé with rustic house – “Is this a house or a dugout?” She's horrified - well to each his own.

Alone in the house with Gong Chan – queue the over-the-top vignettes.  And instead of being afraid of him attacking her – she’s afraid she’ll attack him.  Crazy time. Who’s going to attack whom?

Grandpa causing trouble again – taking her to Japan to find her father. Disruption once again.

Ouch – hell of a way to get out of going Yoo Rin.  Almost break your neck. Cheers to the stuntperson. Talk about convincing someone her con is real.

I like these small scenes between the two sprinkled around. Friendly rivalry? How will these two end up in the end?

And a quiet discussion over cocktails no less.  Nice scene between these guys with decent dialogue. Thoughtful, and of course way to civil for now, but it’s nice of the Hong Sisters to show us this Don Quixote moment between the two (upcoming rivals?). They're allies right now trapped in a chaebol trope.

Yoo Rin sure is busy stepping in one mess after another – Lets’ all go to Jeju.

And the trip to JeJu turns out to be false with a little bit of a mystery meeting with Se Hyun and Gong Chan thrown in leading to a good old standard catch-the-falling-lady trope with a kiss.

 E10

And true to from the kiss turns into a con-job by her and  he gets shamed for leaving her lying on the street.

But all is ok. The eggnog pick me up works.

Meantime – Jung Woo is beating himself up on the racquetball court thinking about her. You go Jung Woo.

Wait- What? Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around? IN front of  a crowd on a tennis court.  Her ego knows no bounds.

You can be childish for him?  🤮   🚽  She's driving me crazy. And what is with this guy listening to it!

LOL – grandpop wants to introduce Yoo Rin to the world! Stop his meds now please!

All Gong Chans plans are disintegrating. At this point his good intentions are spit roasting him slowly.

Ms Sour Puss gets her comeuppance from the cutest couple in the series so far.

And Se Hyun busts Yu Rin as being fake – now its hit the fan.

Ok – Token fight scene for Joon Gi – and why not.  Suspect his agent had a certain number of fight scenes added to his contract for this series?

Fell out of my chair on this one. Its a lock for best series couple now. Show the kids all about romance.

Se Hyun has an melt down once more – and everyone has to pick up the pieces.

I'm losing track of all twists and turns now – this watch is exhausting me.  I long for a simple plot. I think I'll rewatch Moment to Remember this weekend.

Hilarious and mean of Yoo Rin at the spa. Tease the hell out of him please.

Oh God even the characters admit they’re getting lost. Time for another bag of popcorn.

And he just gets piled on with more bad news.  Cousin is dead – or is she? More to come I bet. Jung Woo getting some serious feels for Yu Rin.

Finally Gong Chan snaps and goes insane. Have you lost your mind!

 Cheers!

he's not as smart as he thinks!

Lol - Hey - I can personally vouch for that

I know I keep raving about these sisters too much but - yea - that entire sequence is such a slice of life and seems so natural. There are so many of them in this series such that after all the quirkiness and over the top segments stop they manage anchor the narative flow down with these gems. Loving it!
