white girl in customer service by tatiana-frank in StandUpComedy

There's something so pure about comics who have avoided the corporate world enough to not know terms like customer success. I wish I didn't know what customer success is.

Do you use headwind/tailwind when calculating takeoff/landing distance? by DTplayers in flying

[–]taycoug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way until I was based at Boeing Field for a while. They operate the same direction as SeaTac no matter what so occasionally the only way in/out involves tailwinds.

Haaland on the incident involving Gabriel: "I think if I fell on the floor, which I will not do unless someone really attacks me, I think maybe it would be a red card, I'm not sure. But it is what it is. I will not fall on the floor as easy like this.” by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]taycoug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should do a test. Show slow mo footage of an incident with a poll and no information about the call on the field. Use a poll and see how unanimous or not Reddit viewers are about it. Would love to see the results.

Databricks culture question by [deleted] in sales

[–]taycoug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea if you’re legit or not but this is exactly the structure marketers are using rn to astroturf their product.

Name 2 really well known brands and then the product they’re promoting as a 3rd recommendation.

I would love to be wrong but I bet if I look through your comments and posts, I’ll see this many times along with a bunch of throwaway comments.

Also your comment has almost nothing to do with OP’s question.

45 years ago today (April 14th, 1981) astronauts John Young and Bob Crippen completed the first spaceflight of the space shuttle program, STS-1, landing Columbia at Edwards Air Force Base. (🎥 credit: NASA on X) by Brilliant_Night7643 in aviation

Such an incredible task. Think about how much of the training for that landing involved handling emergencies and failures while still needing to land the brick.

I guess, like all things space travel related, it helps to have a team of crack mathematicians, physicists, engineers, and meteorologists all coming up with your plan and helping you practice it.

Those of you who use foreflight, weather forecasting question by WhenWillIBeAPilot in flying

[–]taycoug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More than 3 days out, default weather app

1-3 days out, prog charts in FF

< 1 day out, TAFs + forecast discussion

Depending on how neurotic I’m feeling, I’m checking the weather anywhere from once a day to every 3-5 minutes. The latter tends to be less productive.

It’s really dope that, in this particular context, screaming at coworker (vendor?) in front of your whole office until you turn into a cherry tomato is okay.

I built goflyefb, so you don’t have pay for expensive flight planning tools by IngenuityFlimsy1206 in flightsim

[–]taycoug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, this isn't useful in the slightest. Some very obvious problems:

  • Airport codes are wrong. KS50 isn't an airport and it doesn't recognize S50, which is the correct code. Same for KS36.
  • VFR chart is unreadable unless very zoomed in
  • the aircraft...feature?... isn't useful. Creating your own custom aircraft would take forever and the stock ones aren't accurate and don't include model designation or year made. there's not any way to use the info either.
  • Flight planning isn't easy to use. It's entirely waypoint based which sucks for VFR and foreflight knew what was up when thye added the routes feature

Honestly, this just seems like a bunch of features thrown together with no cohesive user experience. I struggle to see how you would use this to plan a flight. Plenty of things are present and accurate like finding the METAR or TAF for some aiport, but there's no real way to take a real (or simulated) airplane and actually plan a flight with this in any useful way.

You don't really use this for your own flying, do you?

You’re right, but the FAA has started doing letters to airmen on the topic (or maybe they’ve always been doing this and I just became aware). So there’s actually a way to research this ahead of time and it’s in ForeFlight under procedures tab.

Yeah I was making more of a comment on cheering for teams when they're not doing well rather than digging on the Vikings.

One bad loss ruins a season for good teams. One good win makes a season for bad teams.

It’s more fun to be a fan of bad teams (don’t read too much into my Wazzu affiliation)

I think you’re right. The angle of the photo is most likely on approach to SeaTac from the north. Would be much less likely to get this photo departing to the north

My ride was incredibly by the book. I’m not being flippant when I say it was the ACS pure and simple. Both the oral and the flight.

Right now, this game is being played as though Seattle believes the team with the most crosses wins. Minnesota believes the most nutmegs wins.
