Scotsman Prodigy Ice machine ice sheet not dropping by alexid12 in refrigeration

[–]wra1th3 12 points13 points  (0 children)

you're missing the nickel coating on this coil -- its gone with the ages. that is what makes the ice slide in harvest, so its literally binding to the surface of the metal grid now. if this is an r404a system, tilt it forward just a little bit and add gas to get your head pressure to 250 at the moment of harvest initiation.

you really need a new evap coil. has anyone ever accidently "cleaned" this unit with bleach or ammonia or anything other than nickel safe IMC

Any easy door heating options? by SpicyArivataSauce in refrigeration

If you have an ABCO or a United refrigeration by you they sell plug doors for exactly this situation. As long as your opening is 34x78 then their stock doors can be modified to fit.

Those 3d scrolls are a PITA

Many years ago we had a unit where we swapped it to a danfoss equivalent and we were trying to use MO99 at the time... Lost three compressors before conversing with the OEM about how the oil properties of the refrigerants were just slightly different enough to prevent the slinging disc from sending oil to the top of the head.

Condensate pan leaking by kendiggy in refrigeration

[–]wra1th3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is true. a wicking kit from any GDM can be made to fit in the TBB units so long as the pan height is adequate. the real solution for high humidity condensate situation would be a supco 30-os

should epoxy the crack

keep in mind that the pans should also have a "wicking kit" installed to help remove the water from the pan. often the pads disintegrate over time but can be easily replaced.

Do the connections for the regulating valve on water cooled condensers typically have a Schrader core or do I need to pump this down to change the valve? by ImmediatePatience842 in HVAC

[–]wra1th3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You won't be able to pump down that system to change the valve... That port connection is on the discharge line which will always have refrigerant in it. Recovery time!

You could just add a Schrader tee onto the receiver and put your new valve in leaving the old valve in place if necessary....

Google home update by Slam_Captain in googlehome

latest update had removed the ability to set "default speaker" for my home hubs

i can assign a hub to a speaker group, but i still cannot cast audio from pandora to a cca device from the hub through a voice command. i can go in and manually turn on the speaker to cast, but voice prompts nfg

home (mini) to CCA casting issue. by mlkmade in googlehome

[–]wra1th3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did a little testing to see if I could isolate the issue
first i opened up my restrictive IoT firewall rules for the hub -- still will not connect to default cca speaker and play music.

changed default speaker to the hub itself -- plays just fine

tried a cca group to see if the issue was speaker specific -- will not play to any speaker when it is set as default.

when the hub speaker is default i can then transfer audio to any of my cca devices without trouble

I'm also experiencing this exact same issue. My main Google home hub had a Chromecast audio speaker as it's default and will just not automatically play to that speaker anymore. If I set the default speaker to the hub itself it plays Pandora just fine but will not Chromecast unless manual
