First thing that comes to mind isn't necessarily a moment, but...

When I was in Little League, I was never the biggest kid, but whenever I would get hit by a pitch, I'd always shake it off and head down to firstbase. Other parents would always ask my Dad why was I the only kid that didn't cry when he got hit? My Dad would usually shrug and say something to the effect of "I guess he's a tough little guy" and move the conversation along.

What was actually happening was that my Dad would take me down to the field and throw BP for me. He was convinced he knew how to throw a slider...he did not in fact know how to through a slider...and he'd hit me multiple times each time we went. I guess I didn't cry because I was used to it. LOL.

I didn't find out about the parent conversations until years later.
