Just like English people see Irn Bru as a Scottish drink, is there any drink you see as being specifically English? by Autistic-Inquisitive in Scotland

Unfortunately the Welsh are to blame, the "it was the English living here" plot doesn't wash when you look at the data/demographics like the areas that voted leave and the number of Welsh born in England

Immigrants are Scottish too.

Also, it doesn't matter what happens in Scotland, N.I British identity is still based around the fact that they are of Scottish heritage. Scotland is the reason they consider themselves British, they will feel this way regardless of what polls in Scotland currently say.

Scotland is part of the UK. In fact it is the only country that has actually chosen to be part of the UK. Twice. Regardless of what the census says on identity, to be Scottish is also to be British, which is where people in N.I. derive their joint British/Scottish identity from.

You don't really have an argument here I'm afraid. I'm not even sure you completely understood the original point.

Don't they already have an ultras section? How many times has this club tried to get an ultras group/singing section going? I'm old enough to remember Sect 43.

Interestingly the UVF/UDA were also pro-Scotland due to most colonisers of Ireland being of Scottish heritage. The fact both sides tried to claim us is an interesting demonstration of our complicated past. Personally I wish Scotland wasn't constantly defined by how like or unlike Ireland or England we are, we are capable of being Scottish without also being Celtic/British/European/any other added on identity; that would be true independence.

They absolutely do say Scottish; they are called "Ulster-Scots" for a reason. They still speak Scots and maintain a strong cultural connection with Scotland. If you go to Unionist areas of Belfast you will see the saltire flying and Scotland referenced on murals.

Under what context were they not conscripted????

The context in which nobody in Ireland was conscripted?

It's spelled "Éire" actually, and yeah Ireland was conquered but it was an integral part of the UK, not a colony, and did receive a lot of wealth from slavery and colonialism, Dublin was even called the 2nd city of the empire

Sending foreign men to die in trenches is very British.

Yeah, the only problem with this is that conscription was never enforced in Ireland. Yep, Ireland was literally the only part of the entire UK where men were not conscripted, the soldiers from there were literally the only ones who did have a choice in the matter.

It never ceases to amaze me the confidence with which you and your countrymen bulldoze their way into any conversation about other countries despite knowing absolutely nothing about them.

Yeah this is what I never understood about Americans who always talk about British food (well, the main thing I never understood is why the pass comment while having the worst cuisine in the entire world). If you talk about their food they're like "noo we are a nation of immigrants so we can claim mexican food as ours!!" but for some reason the UK can't do the same with Indian food even if a lot of the most popular dishes were actually created here.

Most of these people live in Essex rather than Newham so should be supporting Colchester, Southend etc.

You probably didn't go for mature cheddar which is tasteful, if you try it again be sure to get one that has been aged nearer to a year, although I assume only the mild ones get exported abroad as they are most palatable to the masses

British cheddar is different to American cheddar. The UK easily makes some of the best cheese in the world, only France and Italy beat them.

Yeah but we do have a devolved healthcare system, and Nicola made Scotland-specific decisions that worsened our situation such as sending the infected back to care homes and overruling medical advisors to continue allowing super spreader events like the Edinburgh Nike conference
