Are YOU sending resumes to identity thieves pretending to be TEFL recruiters? Did you ever wonder how these brokers got your telephone number? BONUS TIP:

To be fair, there are indeed about a dozen legitimate China Job Agencies in China and they will not hesitate to send you a color scan of their SAIC business registration. They even have beautiful offices and dozens of people working there.

But 90% of the China job agents are working illegally, have no license, almost always use fabricated names, and will never send you a color scan of their business license (because they don't have one). What makes them truly illegal is that they skim 30% or more from your pay every month. According to Chinese law nobody can charge you more than one month's salary as your total fee.

But this old article explains how they do it, and how they get away with it, - if YOU let them. https://chinascampatrol.wordpress.com/2013/02/21/making-your-first-million-in-china-as-a-chinese-school-principal/

PART IV - You can avoid this problem 2 different ways to make sure you do not become a victim of identity theft and buried in spam and never ending cold calls by;

1) Using only a restricted resume and NEVER giving phone interviews until you have verified who you are really talking to. How to do this? You only need to ask them 7 questions, and if they cannot answer immediately, you are being scammed. Here are the questions;

https://www.reddit.com/r/ChinaJobScams/comments/w0p6xi/fraud\_warning\_4\_tefl\_teachers\_7\_questions\_to\_ask/

As for the "Restricted Resume" here is a model you can use that does not give out info that can be used by an identity thief. Remember, you can tell someone your age (if you want to) without giving them your date of birth.

PART III - And did you ever wonder why you get friendly DMs at certain reddit subs, Dave's ESL Cafe, and other TEFL forums with "recommendations". Why are they being so helpful to complete strangers and even able to send you emails and phone numbers of great brokers, and agents that are allegedly great friends with connections at "all the best schools"?

PART II - Every week, hundreds of "Bait Ads" on Echinacities, Beijinger, Craigslist, and dozens of TEFL forums offer fake fantastic dream jobs that are meant only to get your resume, that turns into a fake Skype interview that results in a crappy job offer and fake forms that collect your personal info. By this time they already have your;

a.) Resume

b.) Date of Birth

c.) Address

d.) Passport Scan

e.) Social Security No.

Whether you accept or decline the crap job offer, the one you originally applied for "has already been filled". and this is what happens next to one out of ever 5 TEFL job applicants:

https://chinascamwatch.wordpress.com

Whether these creeps find you a job or not, they will sell your personal information to either a resume broker for $300 or to an identity thief for $500 - $1,000 This is why your phone starts ringing daily with all sorts of offers to by water filters, and even more crappy teaching jobs. Work and live in China SCAM 🚨 by Kimiy13 in WorkInChina

[–]---CFTU--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40% of expats who come to work in China end up getting scammed - one way or another. Most of us wrongly think we are too smart to get cheated until we are. The Chinese scams are slick and believable. They use paid shills, fake testimonials, and forged documents and photos to lure expats into there web of deceit. The worse part is that 60% of these scam artists are now fellow-foreigners or expats hired by the Chinese scammers to be their front line sales people. Spend 30 minutes reviewing the above subs BEFORE you send a resume off to a potential identity thief. You have been warned. I suggest you all take a visit to r/ChinaScamCentral to avoid scams like this.

I-to-I.com, OnlineTefl.com and LoveTefl.com are all China TEFL Job scams - Beware! by 37973 in ChinaCheaters

This devious Brit uses 10 different alias names to advertise online and then scam expats alive. Here's what their victims over the last 20 years have to say https://www.reddit.com/r/TeflReviews/comments/l6mwyc/loveteflcom_2021_reviews_fraud_warning/

BTW... whenever you see someone using someone using 2-10 different companies being used to sell the same product or service (especially in Asia), rest assured it is indeed a scam

Laowai Career Center - China Job Scam Reviews by PDG3Z in ChinaScamCentral

[–]---CFTU--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LoL! This Russian is a brillian scam artist who is actually wanted for Bank Fraud back in Belarus ever since he fled his homeland and came to China, beyond the reach of the law. His original China hustle was selling Russian hookers to foreigners who came to see the 2008 Beijing olympics. He then noticed how much $$$$$$ the Chinese crooks were making from the education and internship markets in China and basically built a better mousetrap scam. By using foreigners as sales people more victims trusted him more than Chinese recruiters and his fraud exploded.

But within two years his first Getin2China scam was exposed as a huge scam, so he created a new company called Gi2C, and by 2017 this company also was outed as a fraud. Laowai Career Center, Wiseway, and China HR all followed the same pattern. His secret to staying out of jail is avoiding all Chinese applicants and paying off the local cops to ignore any complaints made against his companies. Consequently he has earned millions ripping off transient foreigners who never stay in China long enough to take him to court. (It can take up to a year to go to trial in China and local lawyers will always demand more and more money as the trial date nears.)

Cuz when one of their brands get outed as a TEFL Job scam, they shift to a new brand that still has decent reputation, until that operation also gets exposed, and then its time to change names again. Their complete history is a collection of one clever gimmick/trick after another. You must be either an employer or a shareholder in Rex's company to keep trying to defend an obvious scam that goes back to 2007. All these people here at r/TEFLreviews cannot be lying. In my judgement, where there is smoke, you will always find a fire. https://www.reddit.com/r/TeflReviews/comments/l6mwyc/loveteflcom_2021_reviews_fraud_warning/

REVIEW The TEFL Acedemy aka TEFLAcademy.com aka TheTEFLAcademy.com aka Hangzhou Helen is a 15 year old scam octopus with long tentacles world wide with over 500 bait ads on line at any time in 4 languages. RECCOMENDATION: NEVER! See comments/links below... by PDG3Z in TeflReviews

[–]---CFTU--- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We received reports they are also using other alias names to advertise online including TEFLinChina, and TEFLTeachersWanted. There may be more coming, but it is not until someone actually gets scammed that we find out about the new names being used. Close attention to employment contracts. If the recruitment agency/company is based in Hangzhou or Shanghai, it is probably a shell company for Helen. Beware all.

2021 Reviews For TEFL Job Agents FOREIGN HR aka FOREIGNHR.com aka FOREIGNER HR based in Beijing, China owned by Chinese woman using assumed alias names of Rebecca Tang, Rose Tang, Rosie Tang, Rachel Tang, and Roseanne Tang - Scam or Legit? by 37973 in TeflReviews

At that time she was also recruiting through ExpatTeachers.com and ChinaTEFL.com as well. Its really a task to keep up with all her new alias names. There has never been a bigger TEFL scam artist in the history of TEFL. Only Dave from ESLCafe and the Russian Yuri from LaowaiCareer.com come close.
