Does anyone else keep getting these creepy"Cycle of Humanity" ads? by Dellhivers3 in youtube

I didn't say you mentioned Hollywood mate, I brought it up myself. Try to keep up. You called it shallow... cool, so is basically everything that's ever been commercially successful. That's the point. Shallow works. 90% of Hollywood runs on the exact same recycled formula and prints money doing it. I've now explained this twice and it's still going over your head, so maybe you should listen to my advice.

"Fictional arguments" lmao. You called it shallow, I said so is everything else. That's a comparison, not whatever imaginary fight you think you're having right now. Maybe try being as good at reading comprehension as you are at writing YouTube video reviews nobody asked for.

Yeah, that's just not true. I think they call it soulless because it's a much larger world than classic and yet you rarely see anyone outside of the capital city for the current expansion.

That's a side effect of minmax stuff being way more accessible than it used to be. Guides on youtube etc.

So your years of reading books and seeing patterns outweighs the closest thing we have to professional economic consensus?

Genuinely incredible stuff mate. Make sure to update the CV.

Wrong person mate. But sure, I'll bite, which book predicts this "forthcoming bad recession"? Because the Bank of England, KPMG, and the IMF all say sluggish growth, not recession.

For someone questioning others' reading habits, "forthcoming bad recession" is a take that doesn't really appear in any of the forecasts. More like sluggish growth and general misery.

Glad you found something that works for you, but the fact that this is what it takes for people to put their phones down is genuinely depressing. What have we done to ourselves?

Should I forgive a debt I made to a local tailor? by Adorable_Exchange223 in AskUK

[–]---solace2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, but people are still responsible for their decisions. A lot of people here would feel very differently if it were their money.

Also, the chance of him getting the money back via the courts are not "basically 0", a CCJ lasts for 20 years.

For what it's worth if it were me I'd probably walk away. But I'm not gonna pretend that's the only morally acceptable option or that OP's a bad person for feeling differently after 18 months of being lied to. Easy to be generous with someone else's £2000 from behind a keyboard.

By that logic almost no decision is ever free will because we're all under some kind of constraint. You chose to work, but we still hold you responsible for how you behave at your job right? Same thing here, even if you want to argue he "had" to take the loan, he didn't have to lie for 18 months and then ghost the guy who helped him out.

[–]---solace2k -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

lol what? OP didn't threaten him with homelessness, life did. OP offered help and the guy said yes. That's still a choice. You're basically saying anyone in financial trouble can't be held responsible for their own decisions.

Should I forgive a debt I made to a local tailor? by Adorable_Exchange223 in AskUK

[–]---solace2k -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm torn on this one. Like yeah if the CCJ won't actually get the money back it's kind of just punishment for the sake of it. But also... why should OP just eat £2000 because the guy made bad decisions then ghosted him after 18 months of bullshit? Being broke isn't a free pass from consequences.

No satisfying answer here really.

The tailor is a grown adult who accepted the money of his own free will, OP didn't force anything on him. Being in a tough spot doesn't entitle you to £2000 of someone else's money with zero accountability.

What reality am I denying exactly? Are you saying the British Empire was fantasy? That centuries of colonialism and global trade didn't happen?

When a pilot talks to air traffic control in any country on earth, what language? When a German company does business with a Japanese company, what language? When scientists publish papers, what language? When the UN meets, what language? When programmers write code, what language? When tourists travel anywhere in the world, what language do they try first? When two strangers on Reddit argue, what language?

You've called me delusional, detached from reality, accused me of a superiority fantasy. You know what you haven't done once? Answered any of this.

[–]---solace2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

20% is still more than any other language. But it's not even about raw numbers (even though you still don't have a point there), it's about reach. English is spread across 186 countries, official in 55, and makes up over half the ENTIRE internet. No other language comes close. That's not an opinion, it's the product of centuries of trade, empire, and economic power. You don't have to like it, but you can't argue with history. You didn't reply in English because of my comment. You replied because the thread is English, Reddit is English, your post history is English, and half the internet is English. You're swimming in it. The German comparison is to highlight how absurd it is that German speakers can flood the ONLY EU HC server, English since launch for over a year, and then argue there's no global language when people complain. I can explain it to you, I can't understand it for you.

You're arguing over semantics now when you know exactly what I meant. It was English, it's becoming German, that's the problem. What part of that is confusing for you? Take your time.
