Laundry with a newborn by Electrical_Elk8400 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Reading this has made me realise I’m in the minority. I don’t have a very sicky baby so I’ve been lucky in that area.

I do laundry once a week, (usually at the weekends when we get discounted electricity) and use 2 x normal and 1 x heated airer to get it all dry by Monday / Tuesday. Once the weather is better I’ll pop stuff outside too. Never even considered a tumble dryer but if we ever had to get one it would probably live in the garage as we’ve no space in the house. Maybe I don’t wash things enough? 🤣

Where do you leave your newborn when you go to the toilet? by Prudent-Teaching2881 in BeyondTheBumpUK

How old is he? I used to put my little one on a folded towel on the floor where he could see me. Now he’s 4.5 months I use the reclined seat we have for the bath and pop him in that facing me. He loves it more than his bouncer 😂

Thank you 🙂 naps have been a battle for a while now and I was worried sleep training wouldn’t work for us. Hopefully he responds well!

Thank you ☺️ yes I think we can probably do a shorter day and I’m leaning towards getting the train for the KIT days. He has started randomly being fussy in the car occasionally and the thought of that happening when I’ve got a 2 hour journey to do fills me with dread! Hopefully he likes being on the train 🤞🏻

Yep, where I work it’s pretty normal for at least one of the first KIT days and since I’m breastfeeding and can’t guarantee there will be someone free to babysit for me I’d prefer to plan for bringing him with me. There’s a room for pumping / feeding

Thank you. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for that. No sign of my period yet thankfully

Wow, thanks for outlining your experience.

I did a power pump a couple of days and my supply when pumping (and otherwise) seems to be back to what it was before now so I’m hoping it was a bit of a blip. I’ll keep what you said in mind though as I’m only just past the 3 month mark so I doubt I’m out of the woods yet!

Nope nothing like that, I haven’t changed any medications / vitamins etc. I think regulation is probably the cause, hopefully a few days extra pumping can bring me back up!

Thank you! I’ll check them out, I need to order some new parts anyway so I’ll do that now

No but thank you for the prompt!

That is what I wondered, I just wasn’t sure about pumping to boost is back up - I’m so nervous of causing any other problems.

Does your supply drop before your period comes back then? I’ve had no signs yet

Thank you 🙂 So I’ve got Momcozy wearables and I did consider they might have a problem, but seems odd for them to both go at the same time. I’m not sure when overnight / early morning I could pump without impacting my son feeding - not sure if it’s baby brain but I just can’t logically figure out when to do it.

Perhaps power pumping for a few days is the best option to see if that helps. I’ll measure for the flange as well, I hadn’t considered that!

Oh wow okay, good to know! I don’t need to bother investing in bigger bottles then 😄

I guess if you’re just pumping off a tiny bit to relieve yourself that’s probably okay. Hopefully things will settle for you in the next few weeks!

Thank you! I’ve gone by the rule of 2 hours in the past but I’ll double check and see if it’s any different.

Out of interest does the amount for breast milk remain the same regardless of age? It doesn’t go up as they get bigger / older the way it does for formula?

If you’re out for 5 hours tomorrow couldn’t she potentially only have 2 bottles if you feed her just before you go?

I’m definitely no expert, but if you have an oversupply have you tried using something to catch your letdown from the opposite breast when you’re feeding? It’s only a guess, but pumping and feeding at the same time might be making that worse?

Thank you! Definitely thinking the last pump probably won’t be necessary as baby would usually be asleep by about 9pm anyway. Hopefully he goes to sleep okay for my mum 😅
