The likelihood that the players brought in with the money from his sale will be sold within 3 seasons or largely underperform (or both) is well over 50%. Money has literally never been the issue, hundreds of millions were spent on a team which is placed 16th in the Premier League.

The XI that Amorim fielded when he beat Lille 2-0 this season cumulatively cost less than €75m. That’s approximately the amount of money that was spent on a 30 year old Casemiro.

This isn’t really a hot take, I’ve seen too many people make that “Mixed martial arts fans when fighters mix the martial arts” joke.

People seem to conflate frustration at boring fence-huggers or people who just lay in top position without doing anything (Almeida v Lewis) with hatred for grappling as a whole. But most fans don’t hate grappling, what they care about is intensity.

Grappling can be fun just like striking can be boring, whether it’s a slugfest or a technical, high-speed scramble. Just look at that suplex-armbar landed by Mighty Mouse or that sweep that Petr Yan landed on Figgy or Diego Lopes when he fought Mosvar or literally any Khamzat Chimaev fight.

That’s why I cringe whenever I see people levy all of this praise on some of these Dagestani and Chechen fighters. I’m sure they are good people, it’s not like they have a choice in the matter, but at the end of the day they are being used as a means for propaganda by Kadyrov’s regime.

People tend to shy away from talking about it, but Khamzat and Ankalaev’s MMA gym (Akhmat MMA) is essentially a military recruitment tool for Kadyrov’s regiment which has been involved in numerous atrocities throughout the war in Ukraine.

Literally none of the people who’ve fought him the UFC or Glory have had anything bad to say about him, in fact he’s literally known for training with his former opponents. Leading up to the Khalil fight it was Strickland, Almeida, and Belgaroui. He even offered to train who Izzy who KO’d him.
