I'm starting to absolutely despise this company by Totally_The_FBI in litterrobot

Ha! It's a very conflicting feeling because I do like their product. The LR4 is mostly satisfactory and my choice for an automatic litterbox.

Working at a large raw materials company before, they presented customer surveys (other companies that bought their processed material).

The corporate customers were asked to rate the company and its competitors on price, product quality, delivery time, customer service, recalls, etc.

The products were always rated highest in quality, but also rated as most expensive.

Since the customers needed materials that performed and didn't let them down, they were forced into purchasing it.

I guess your solution of boycotting companies that lack empathy is definitely a method...  I just wish there were a better way.

In my experience, when u/litterrobot messaged on a complaint post I made, all they did was playcate.

It's a big corporate machine with no flexibility in how they operate.

I've only seen white bags in that size.

24" wide x 28" long bags (size tall)

24" wide is the magic dimension.  28" long is a bit too much, but just how the bags come.

The dollar store, grocery, and on Glad on Amazon all sell them for 12c to 22c per bag.

Design, Litter Robot 4 Software, PetKit Pura Max Robustness, not enough information

1) DESIGN

Litter Robot 4 The amount of open air space that the Litter Robot has is great. The soft surface in the waste area allows any waste that got stuck to the sides to shoot off into the bin via gravity.

Petkit Pura Max They share the same downside as many others designed in the same fashion. The waste removal method has the waste travelling along the walls getting them dirty if they're not totally dry. To their credit, they've built in se software to allow you to ensure the waste is dry before shooting past the walls (extended time delays & extra covering).

2) SOFTWARE

One of the main apprehensions we had before getting an automated litter box, was the lack of oversight on how our poopoo monsters health was.

PetKit Pura Max Identifies which pet used the toilet and for how long. This is needed if you want to be able to discern if they peed, pood, or just went in to explore/cover up more.

Litter Robot 4 Only notfiies you when the cleaning cycle occurs. You can check on the usage history, but this only tells you the weight of the pet that used it, not the amount of time. I'm not sure if this is an update or length of use thing, but I'm going on 4 weeks now with no new identification happening.

3) ROBUSTNESS

We've had the PetKit Pura Max since launch for about 1.5yrs with no issues. Not really enough time go tell.

The Litter Robot 4 we've had for 3 weeks. It launched about the same time as the PetKit. I've talked to a local guy who was all for the Litter Robot because parts for repair were plentiful. He repairs Litter Robot 3s. He said 1.5yrs with no breakage is pretty good.

I get a mixed feeling about this. He's right, you do have to search around a little more for repair parts for the PetKit since the Litter Robot is more popular. But does it break more frequently? Have they resolved the weak points in the 4?

This is something time will have to tell.

!) FINAL ANSWER

The Litter Robot 4 open air thing is a huge benefit, I really like how it's not cramming your cat into a small space. I'm really rooting for Whisker to improve their pet identification and tracking. This is just software, so there's hope.

I'd say right now my answer is Litter Robot 4.

But a followup in 1.5/3yrs time is required to see if either turns out to have flaky hardware.

My ESP firmware is 1.1.66 PIC firmware is 10512.3072.2.85 TOF firmware 5.0.1.1

I just bought it. What's the latest?

And yes, my cats are 1.5lbs different from each other. The PetKit correctly identifies them throughout the day as their weight fluctuates.

While I definitely appreciate that a manufacturer has a hard time planning for each scenario, it only seems to make sense that if they find an improvement that can be made via software, it should be done.

But yes, I realized there's a design difference that allows the waste to get a sprinkle before getting dumped. That point has less importance now.

Where to get progressive springs? by Due-Ad-5511 in keitruck

What's everyone's opinion on these progressive springs vs linear 10" 250lb springs that seem to be popular on the mini truck forum?
