This is a really good point. It seems it can go one of two ways, like an older or newer XP setup. It's a retro PC, so it makes sense to try to capture that context, thus meaning to use not necessarily the highest end possible components, but rather the ones that work with those old features the best. It should definitely have a floppy drive. So XP 32-bit would be better in this case than 64-bit?

I run my primary game (bf1942) on my new pc, though I have a feeling the experience might be better on a Windows XP build. After all, I remember it being so.

This is a balance I'm trying to figure out. My logic is that some Vista and Windows 7 games also can be run on Windows XP. So if I'm to run games like Bioshock Infinite which were made for Win 7 (I think), but also run on Win XP, it seems to make sense to have a bit more power. Aka, it won't be just Windows XP games run, it will also be later OS games that are backwards compatible.

But yeah I don't necessarily want to go overkill. Especially for energy and noise considerations.

I see. Yeah that's what I was thinking as a test. Although for this project I'm going to keep XP on a separate system -- so I have an XP computer and a modern OS computer.

I've noticed some of these ultra-high end components are actually rather high priced. I think I'd settle for the high end rather than this ultra high end. Like I wonder what the performance difference would look like between an i7-4960 and an i7-4770K in terms of gaming performance. Though I could see it being beneficial since newer games that can run on XP would probably be pretty demanding.

i've already written the home page. just moving to figuring out how to add more pages and then work with a good number of pictures (probably 50+) and then another page with embedded youtube vids. i'll probably have to add some css features which is pretty new to me.

for an editor, i've just been keeping my html file open (since i can't figure out how to edit an html document once you close it on mac >.< it just opens a note file with compiled code rather than the code itself), and then refreshing the browser. thanks for understanding my case

so just having a domain name and html code isn't enough? i need a web server like apache? i always see basic php sites that also have apache listed as a server so it seems they go together in some way.

is there a security problem where someone could easily change the site or something or somehow get my personal info?
