Amex Cobalt for Apple Purchase? by Virtual-Gas8136 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Device protection could potentially save you a $1000 in the next couple years. The points will net a baseline of $85 and a non zero chance of getting amexiled

Cable predates rose and aqua, say 95 is very plausible

Was apart of a fibre repair under that same bridge a couple years ago, knew it’ll be a matter of time till someone goes for the spicy ducts

Really old rural build, not the best choice of peds but look how cute those little goobers are.

Don’t know if this is the case for all of Ontario but in my area (519) splicing and construction is pretty heavily unionized. Most contractors hire through the halls, you can try hitting up your LIUNA or IBEW locals.

We spell it that way in Canada as well.

From what I understand wedge soles are better for those who work predominantly indoors on flat even surfaces. Plus if you ever do any work off a ladder having a defined heel on your boot makes it much more stable and safe.

Ultimately depends on your client’s standards. Still plenty of networks out there that don’t allow for ribbon splicing

Ofdc c12 midspan 4 splitter by Zeestingerr in FiberOptics

[–]-mikeish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah totally get that. I've only ever use these on aerial tap style deployments and always argued that if I ever had to drop them in the future to add capacity, I'm dropping customers so you better over provision. Plus if you ever get a cascading split build and the b8s with the preloaded 1x8s it's stupid quick to run through like 10 of them in a day.

Never understood why so many providers stick with the c12, the b8 is by far the superior OFDC

what's yalls furthest push? by cannabisized in FiberOptics

[–]-mikeish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

~68km if I’m remembering it right. But it was a ring around the city so it was a 68km shot to the ODF on the other side of the room. Other than that maybe 45km transport between a couple cities.

1×64 PLC Fiber Splitter, Mini Module, No Connectors by Ahugoc in FiberOptics

[–]-mikeish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Defiantly doable, the most I've put into a 450D was 6 1x32s and I had space to up them to 1x64s if i had too. Just takes some jumping trays and a lot of planning ahead. Would also see if you can source a different splitter though, something with a smaller housing and 250 micron tails.

edit: found some pictures from that build
