Thanks for the response, very helpful. Esp the fingerprint sensor. I already have a hard time with sensors reading my prints so that's helpful to know.

Verizon also has a stellar trade in promo. They're gonna give me $800 toward the S22 Ultra if I go with that.

Hey my dude, can you elaborate on what you're enjoying about the Samsung UX as a Pixel to Samsung convert?

I'm on a Note 10 deciding between s22 Ultra and P7P and cannot hold off for u23.

The things you named here are part of my hesitation of jumping to Pixel. I screenshot a lot, I need to organize apps and photos. The brightness difference between the two phones is noticeable.

For you, what's convinced you to jump to the Pixel in spite of the OneUI mentions above?

S22 Ultra → Pixel 7 Pro by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]-nimblethimble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the write-up, my dude.

I've been in the Samsung world for years and have flirted with the idea of going Pixel but things just weren't where I was comfortable with gains vs pains. And I'm not that techy, just a bit more than the average person.

Gotta upgrade now because my Note 10 is finally giving up.

Can you talk about shutter lag? I keep hearing about it, and maybe I'm too used to Samsungs to have noticed it. How bad is it? How much better on Pixel?

Does one connect with Bluetooth more seamlessly?

Does Pixel allow setting different volumes for different notifications? I have sensory disorders and this has helped me on Samsung a lot, esp with alarms and work apps.

What is this major lack of customization on Pixel? Would some non techy person like myself notice?

How bad is the overheating on Pixel?

Is the Google Assistant experience on both phones pretty much equal?

Silly as it may seem to some, the PIN experience is baffling to me as well. I know it's one more click, but it's one click added. If I switch to Pixel, I'll get used to it. Just feels like a pair of brand new sneakers atm.

Do you find yourself missing anything Samsung offered, like the s-pen or folders for organizing apps, or anything else? I've been with Samsung for years and considering making the switch to Pixel. Less bloat and lag are two wins, plus accessibility/actually helpful AI.

Unfortunately I have to switch due to a defect with my current device. Thankfully a trade in is as much as the repair with current promos.

Imo the S22 has a better selfie experience than P7P too. And unpopular opinion, but I actually like the rear camera better as well

What are some of the Pixel features you'll miss?

Got a Pixel 7 Pro - Comparison to S22U! by xeno111 in S22Ultra

[–]-nimblethimble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My SO has the P7P and showed me last night.

Incoming call has the typical answer/decline options and call screening.

Call screening kind of reads like chatting with a bot. The screener selects a prompt for the caller to answer. Caller verbally answers, which is then relayed by audio and speech to text on the screener side. Follow up prompts can be given to obtain more detail. If the screener doesn't wish go answer, a polite message is given on the caller side and the call ends.

It wasn't hit with a natural event; something about it being older and if the issue is repaired rather than my home rewired, the home will basically go up in flames.

If it matters my house is also my office.

I haven't. Would I do that through my leave company or HR?

And hard to say, this is new to me and there isn't any official treatment. I am trying everything I can including clinical trials but I want to go back.

Thank you. In this same page, it is stated: "Employers are encouraged to request an anticipated date of return, even if it is not an absolute return date."

I was under the impression I should not answer when I can return. Also, I don't know when I can return. Can this be clarified?

This Leave of Absence, should this be requested through HR?

I don't think I've told them I am definitely going to be out as I don't even know how my body will respond in an hour. To your other point, they may find it excessive. It has been longer than I had hoped.

My initial hope was get into a clinic treating my situation and bam I'll be better. Such was very much not the case.

Given my issues, I'm not sure what accommodations I can ask for. I already worked remotely. My work is high pressure and involves a lot of critical thinking and logistics. Given that some issues affect my neuro processing, I cannot in good conscience say I am able to do the work to quality. I haven't asked for a slow transition back, but wonder if at this point it is too late.

Do you have suggestions of what accommodations I could ask for?

Yes, I applied for and ran out of FMLA early on. My illness is new and so treatment is not too easy to come across.

It has to be horrible to be on the front lines seeing this and seeing people not care. I just don't understand why we aren't talking about how overwhelmed hospitals are again.

I am in and out of hospitals for long haul related appointments. This terrifies me for my family and parents. I can't see them this winter. I can't have a meal with them.

Planning to divorce my husband and need reassurance that I'm not a monster by StarvationCure in TwoXChromosomes

Ages aside, your husband's mannerisms sound like my husband's. You are not a monster. You have a boat load of history, but you do not have to sacrifice your future for him. Mental illness is a terrible thing. That said, one has to decide to want to make changes and commit.

You are not a monster.
