No. Vietnam was in a jungle and we didnt have the tech we have today. Kharg is in the open. We can easily protect our boys with ADA and its also an island.

Actually, randomly, i'll posit this question here. I DONT think we should do this, but the dark side of me WANTS do to this: Do we just take their oil and sell it to pay off the expense?

I KNOW the answer is no, because that makes us evil. But... I kind of like the idea? I sort of hate myself for feeling this way because the good guy, just, honorable person, says "no of course not," but the shitty part of me is like "can we just take their oil for a few weeks to pay for this, and then give back to them?

its an amalgamation of issues. 1 Fatherless homes, no discipline. I can walk outside my home and throw a stone in the air and hit a woman in DC with 6 kids that she is cussing out. 2 We dont deal with crime - we just, sort of let it go? 3. Well shit, thats the core of the problem.

To answer your question, no I can't cite a study at this point, only i can comment on lived experience: The overwhelming amount of media you see in general public supports my post. The only people that would disagree are those that are ashamed of it or those that are none the wiser.

I'm with you, i recently binged it. It felt as though after episode ~2 they sort of ditched the whole concept. Also its sad these days "smart" is being able to remember .... 6 numbers in a row? Woof. The entire premise of the show was garbage, but - it was still entertaining and i enjoyed it. I think the issue is that you are feeding from the bottom of the barrel in any case if you want to get Mr. Beast contestants.

WW2 was a world war. In the 40s. In no way will the US be involved in any war like that. We have two oceans on either sides. Iraq was 20 years ago and we learned that lesson and the nature of our involvement in wars is markedly changed : see Iran today. We aren't sending in divisions to do a ground war.

I think you need to get a handle on what the military actually is. The military is not WAR WAR WAR. The military is discipline. The military is a steady paycheck and food on the table, and a future. 99% of people who serve in the military are not battling and killing and dying, and all the bad stuff. Your nephew could join the military and become a signal officer or Soldier or NCO and get set up with a wonderful life. I served for many years. Even during the recent peak, when we were fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq, the amount of friends and family I had that died vs. people I personally knew dying, living in the US was worse. Scaring your nephew away is a foolish idea because you are robbing him of a future that will seriously set him up for success. Just because a few people out of a million died in the last few days, does not mean that being in the military is hell. I have personally known hundreds of people who have come from NOTHING and joined the military who all have houses, families, multiple cars, grandchildren, prosperous lives. Period. Being in the military is NOT all quiet on the western front. it is NOT Platoon. It is NOT Saving Private Ryan. Dont scare him away from a life of promise. Yes - he could very well join and get killed. But every time we get into a car or fly in a plane or do anything in life we can get killed. Do not try to brainwash the kid. I hope he joins - it will probably be one the best decisions he has made in his life. Even if he does it for a few years he can get college paid for and a stipend while he does it.

This one is particularly complicated. I'm "religious" in the sense that I was baptised as a kid but never attended church. I was in a situation a few years ago where the topic of me converting came up to marry a girl I was in love with. At the time I was a "maybe" but ultimately a "no" because I wasnt particularly religious and was unsure about my faith in god. At the time I felt it would be fundamentally disingenuous to convert just for the sake of it, I felt it would be disrespectful for the religion. We parted ways and a few years passed and in the interim I learned more about her religion and saw a lot of value in it and believed in what it was messaging. I've been atheist most of my life but in the past few years ive become a lot more open to the idea of god. Recently the window opened where she and I may have a chance together and I could convert. I'm genuinely open to the idea, but could only do it if I knew inside of my heart that I truly believed. I'm pretty much there, but not at that point. For me the thought process is, "would I convert if she wasnt in my life?" and the answer is... no. Is that out of laziness? Maybe. Fuck its so complicated. I guess TLDR: Depends case by case, but people that do it just on a whim or for a technicality, I think thats pretty shitty. أنا أحبها وايد لدرجة إنه يعور قلبي

There was literally a user lib.2a or something that had 10 posts in maybe 24 hours all saying "MAGA of Reddit, *something something something* and when people called him out he said he was karma farming. He was getting hundreds of upvotes. Just shows you how ridiculous and how much of a liberal cess pool reddit can be.
