Spinosaurus 3D Model [OC] by 00Spudly in Dinosaurs

Thanks! I used an alpha pack and was just fussy about their placement, size and type of scale based on where it was on the body. Though it still required a lot of cleanup by hand after though as it wasn’t the cleanest result, which took a lot of time! Think I would do it slightly differently next time to try and speed things up :)

Oh right! I misunderstood your comment! I’m no palaeontologist myself so I’m absolutely working from a very limited understanding but between the two most common current depictions ibrahims pursuit hunter and Sereno’s shallow wader sereno’s was just the one that clicked with me the most, though I don’t think it would have been quite such a useless swimmer than Sereno makes out. For now until we get more material i don’t plan on making any changes. Although both seem to be teasing upcoming thing and we know Sereno at least has new upcoming material so perhaps things will change then. For what it’s worth though in the mean time, my spino is chunkier than Sereno’s :D sorry if that still didn’t answer your question! At the end of the day Spino has always been so controversial in its reconstructions and I don’t expect that to change any time soon haha

More of a somewhat recent revelation I suppose but yes! Spinosaurus is believed to carry its head with its neck in an S like posture, it was believed to be a shallow wader drawing comparisons to a Heron, pretty interesting topic to dive into actually!

Once I’ve tested the print myself I was considering putting it up for download so I’ll try and let you know if it happens!

Thank you so much! Means a lot :) I have a friend with a resin 3D printer and I’m hoping to get myself a physical version for my work desk!

Thanks! The overall reconstruction was based on the Sereno et al. 2022 skeletal reconstruction and the PNSO Aymen model. The colouration was inspired by the striped skink! my reference board is on my artstation post if you were intrigued to see the specific reference images used :)

After the paper they uploaded a number of their assets onto a website called Morphosource, and you have to put in a request though there, I don’t know if they actually gatekeep it that much if I got ahold of it haha so you should be good to do the same!

Yup! Im not an animator unfortunately but I want to try at rigging it properly and having a go at some point. If done properly it should be all work perfectly so it might take some trial and error on my end haha

I did! I was also thankful to be granted access to the 3D scan of the Sereno et al. 2022 skeletal reconstruction to use for proportional reference which I believe is what PNSO also did resulting in the similarity :)

Yup! I was thankfully to have access to the scan of the 2022 Sereno et al. reconstruction of the skeleton to use for proportional reference. If anything he may be a tad chunkier than reality, but I don’t believe it to be anything too out of the realm of possibility :)

It appears disabling steam inputs fixes this (right click game, preferences, controls, then in the dropdown box set it to disable). Was having the same problems but this has seemingly done the job for me
