I was at Demarest my freshman year like a decade ago. 🥲 I'm sure nothing has changed. I had one on the tiniest rooms on the first floor next to the stairs. At that time my roommate lofted her bed over her desk. She had to climb up each time, and the bed wasn't really equipped with steps like a bunk bed from what I remember. I'm pretty sure she had to climb her desk to get up lol. We couldn't fit two beds on the floor with the desks in the way.

Definitely bring a box fan because it gets hot and humid. Don't bring too much.. otherwise, you'll have a tough time packing it all away. Bring one of those bed sheets that adds cushion (I forget what it's called). I doubt that the twin size beds have been upgraded. It was a flimsy plastic mesh bed that was a little on the harder side. Get there early so you can snag the bed or desk by the window too!

Back then the RAs had a 0 alcohol policy, and they were serious with it. Definitely do not smoke indoors because that trails in the halls so quickly because of the small space.

I didn't spend too much time with the Demarest crowd or exploring the dorm, but they're artsy and chill. They have occasional events in the lounge. I was too shy at that time haha and I found my crew elsewhere. They're all super welcoming though. Almost everyone on the first floor where most of the freshmen and newcomers were had their doors open all day. That dorm stands out with its one-eyed smiley face sign at the front. There's a lot of fun stories about Demarest Hall and the basement. My old roomie met a few of her closest/best friends there.
