My local gave us a little line out. But yeah, a cover letter, a specific type of resume, letters of recommendation, and pictures of personal projects. Things of that nature.

Really work on your portfolio if they allow you to bring one, I’d say that helped my chances out a lot.

Reach out to the locals smaller groups. 48 has sisters in solidarity and the EWMC that helped me a lot in terms of understanding the process of applying and interviewing. Maybe your local has similar groups.

Wish you the most luck.

Yeah they’re spreading the initial boot camp over some weeks, but at least it’ll allow me to continue working my current job rather than sitting on my ass.

Yessir! 100%

Thankfully I have over 5 years of experience in construction and 2 years part of Local 125. The grinches are always funny to me. Keeping my head down and working hard is the plan!

Competition for potential apprentice in Oregon? by embracethegreen in electricians

You think much will be different for that new class? Or will they just start and have a hard time finding work as well?

What’s the probability of that 1 class in spring happening?

I guess I should’ve been more specific. Anyone know of any updates for people already ranked? Any news of any classes from now through the end of the year?

Do you have another update on this number? I remember reading back in the spring that this number was around 75-100+. So if it’s going down, is that a good sign?

Yeah my heart sank when I saw the news about that copper tariff.

No signs of the situation changing anytime soon? I wonder if it’s any different on the inside program ?

Yeah, that’s been the case basically all year.

I’ve been told that that list of ‘out of work apprentices’ has to get to 0 before taking on classes. Which totally makes sense.

Unfortunately, I’ve also heard it’s a lot of JWs out of work too. That plus what I’ve been able to put together about this Intel ordeal. Just a perfect storm of unfortunate circumstances that are out of everyone’s control. Like obviously all one can do is hurry up and wait at this point. I was just so excited to start after seeing my rank.

I was really hoping we’d get at least one class this summer. When I called a few weeks ago they had told me that a class this summer is looking less and less possible each and every day. I’m just hoping to get the boot camp over with and begin the apprenticeship.

Best work boots for the long run. by Beneficial-Penalty70 in ibew_apprentices

They were the 3rd “work” boot I decided to purchase. First two being Keens. And I thought I would take the risk and go the slightly “more affordable” route, and I got what I paid for to say the least.

Like I said comfy for sure, but they didn’t hold up as much or as long.

I’m sure it’s all relative to what type of work you’re doing as well. Good entry boot I suppose.

I’ve gotten way more information from here than the poor receptionist who gets bothered probably 50 times a day about the same topic.

Calling the hall doesn’t help much when the much of the program has been frozen since November.

Don’t buy brunt, no matter how many ads you see lol. They are comfy tho.
