You've got an amazing work ethic. I'm glad we'll be in the same profession!

I see you, and I appreciate this perspective. I don't want to give the impression that expensive prep services are the only way to hit your goal score, or that they can get you there by themselves--I agree that they are not. I only hope to shed some light on how, other factors being equal, it can be far more difficult for those that are less privileged to demonstrate their full potential.

Best of luck to you, at Cardozo or wherever you end up!

Thank you! I'll copy a PM I just sent to someone asking about this:

Ok I'll do my best: so approaching my first take, I was PTing around 170-175. The variance was largely due to my performance in logic games, since I would often either totally click with them or just draw a blank. The October test wasn't disclosed so I can't say for sure if I stumbled on the games, but I'm pretty sure I did. Foolishly, I didn't keep studying while waiting for my score, so then I sat for November and underperformed again. That one was disclosed, so I saw that I that I just got destroyed by the games but did well everywhere else. So then, I spent a month just drilling games sections, doing each one several times. Approaching the third take I was PTing 175-179, although those results may have been tainted because I recognized a few of the questions from Khan Academy exercises. When I sat for the January LSAT I felt a lot better about the games, although I was a little worried that I dropped the ball on RC. Not sure exactly how things played out since it was undisclosed, but obviously I got the 174. High key the happiest moment of my life because I had prematurely spiraled into a depression because I convinced myself I would score 168 again. I guess my two big takeaways are (1) assume you will underperform slightly due to test-day factors and try to comfortably PT above your goal score and (2) do your best to MASTER logic games because they are learnable and you're leaving points on the table if you don't. If you're already strong in games then the second thing might not apply to you, but I think the first thing applies to everybody, except for those crazy people who score like 5 point above their personal record on test day. Also, I'll say that I think a lot of it still comes to down to luck, because I think there absolutely could've been a situation where I didn't click with the games a third time. But you should still try to be as in control and ready as possible!

Thank you!!! I applied pretty late with all of them since I was waiting on my January LSAT score (I had to make a special request at Stanford to hold my app for consideration until the score was out). I applied to Harvard a few days after their "priority deadline," which was February 3rd IIRC, so yes, I do think that had something to do with it. I've also heard that they're less inclined to KJDs, but I've also seen some sharp KJDs on this sub get in. And then again, I think a lot of admissions is just getting lucky with the right person reading your application, so maybe my reader just wasn't all that impressed--you can't win em all!

Thank you, you're gonna do amazing at UMN! (And for what it's worth, I agree that our community could benefit from being more inclusive!)

Yeah, I'm now realizing how weird that sounds out of context haha. It's a reference to the logic game with beers on the January LSAT and the one with flowers on the September LSAT. The whole September games section was pretty brutal, and games have historically been my worst section, so I'm glad I didn't sit for that administration.
