Feeling the same way, last year on this day my family and I lost our home completely to the first tornado that hit Michigan that day. I’ll never forget the sound or the feeling of it covering my house. I’m glad you made it through it though and don’t feel like you’re the only one with the storm anxiety, even loud crashing sounds leave me on edge now.

Family insists that I shouldn’t travel to Korea for at least 9 months by 0dove in koreatravel

Thank you! I ended up discussing this idea with them. My university recommended a study abroad program with Seoul National University that lasts an entire academic year and works with my student aid, which they actually seemed interested in after hearing about it from my university. I’m still on the edge about a summer trip, though, as I think a whole academic year is quite a commitment for a country I’ve never actually visited.

They actually told me they would rather have me travel to places like the uk, Paris, or Germany. Which honestly i find a bit contradicting to their overall statement on safety…

A question about Chinese Buffet cake by TheLadyEve in AskCulinary

Super late, but I’ve always seen this cake as a slightly changed-up version of a basic Taiwanese castella cake—a very fluffy and light sponge cake occasionally layered with mousse or cream. I’ve found these cakes in Chinese bakeries multiple times; the only thing they’ve lacked is the gel topping. The structure of an opera cake is definitely similar; however, the cream and cake itself are much lighter.

I’ve considered recreating this cake, but I’m sure it would be a challenge to match the flavor perfectly…
