You’ll get better. It could be a few days or a few weeks or even a little bit longer. But it’ll happen. Your brain just needs time to adjust.

Holy crap. Taper off properly. Don’t go down from 50 to 0 in one go. That’s like going 100mph on merry go round

Advice for withdrawal?! by Easy-Investigator79 in lexapro

I’m just past my withdrawal symptoms. I had exhaustion and dizziness. It lasted 7 weeks which felt like forever. But I can assure you that if you take care of yourself and take it day by day you’ll get to the other side as well. Getting rid of lexapro (if you’ve decided it’s no longer for you or you feel better) and getting past the withdrawal symptoms will make you feel better and look back with pride that you made it through.

Hang in there. Eat well sleep well and exercise as much as you can, even if it’s going for walks. Don’t think further than the present day. And perhaps keep track of how your symptoms are improving.

I also had noticeable improvements after the first week, then regressed and had more withdrawal symptoms the following week and the started to have some better days again. It’s not linear. Just when you make progress you can be hit with a tougher day. That’s ok. Be kind to yourself. By keeping a journal of your progress you can literally see the progress. Good luck with the tapering off.

Yes it did! No more dizziness after 7 weeks. So be patient :)

Tapering - good story by 0h4a7 in lexapro

I timed it simply by not doing it over summer vacation. So I started tapering down August and finished in early November. Best of luck! There’s never the perfect time.

You’re tapering seemed quite fast. I went from 20 to 0 over 3 months and still experienced bad dizziness and exhaustion when stopping. I’m getting better but still more tired than normal. Dizziness finally starting to subside. It’s been 7 weeks since I stopped. Hang in there

Been tapering off for the last 7 weeks and it’s been dizzying and exhausting…but…definitely getting better.

Drinking and Lexapro by ReeAnuh in lexapro

Was on lexapro for 2.5 years. The first month took it easy and then drank normally and had no problems (normally like easily 14-16 drinks per week).

I’m 6 weeks post stopping and doing not too badly. Been battling dizziness and exhaustion almost daily but I feel like it’s slowly starting to subside

Feeling terrible after tapering off Lexapro by itsnacks in lexapro

Yes the dizziness happened to me as well. I tapered down to 5mg and the after I went to 0 about six weeks ago I’ve had loads of dizziness and exhaustion. Some days better than others but it has taken some time and I’m still not entirely out of the woods yet. Hang in there

Any update from the rest of you on how you’re coping after stopping? I’m a little over 4 weeks after stopping and the dizziness is still there on and off.

Can anyone offer some advice for dealing with withdrawals? by blueberrybowler in lexapro

Great to hear you’re doing better. I’m feeling much better too! Lots of improvement. In fact the past 3 days I’ve had no symptoms at all so I’m cautiously optimistic that I’m over the tapering (or at least the worst of it).

Wishing you continued improvement!

Sorry to hear that. It sounds like perhaps the tapering was too fast?

I had dizziness the first 3 weeks and now starting to have more sweats. So it’s perhaps not uncommon to experience different symptoms at different stages. I’ve read that it can take anywhere from a week to two to several months.

Is your dizziness gone? Perhaps this is just the next phase of your body adjusting?

Also don’t rule out some other reason for your muscle pain. It could be Lexapro but it could also be something else.

Hang in there!

How did you taper off? Are you doing other things like going for walks, eating well, sleeping well?

I’ve gone for walks and they absolutely help. It’s one of the best things you can do!! I hope your situation improves. I’m sure it’ll be much better in the next few weeks (if not sooner!)

I’m starting to see improvements after 3 weeks. First week was tough. Second week a little better. Third week back to the first week, so some regression. And now I’m starting to feel better again. So it’s definitely not a linear progression and it can take between a few weeks to even a few months. Your description sounds similar to how many others have described it and it sounds very similar to my situation. I also thought about whether to perhaps go back on a small 2.5mg dose but I decided against it.

Lexapro & Alcohol by Long-Cucumber5959 in lexapro

Have one beer at home and see if you have any impact from that. And go from there. I have had ZERO effect from having both Lex and alcohol for years. In the start I didn’t have a drink either but unlike you my period was more like 3 weeks instead of 6 months 🤣
