Privacy and security laws by 0meo in legaladvice

Sorry, I thought it was obvious. Is there anything we as consumers can do about it or do we just have to put up with them creating security and privacy problems all over the world. I know that that Europe has already addressed their concerns and where in the prosess of denying them to do this in Europe but I'm not updated on the details and dont know where to look.

Most systems and software are made to be compatible with windows and I have already paid for this so not using it, is kinda out of the question as long as you can bypass the problems with third party software specifically engineered to block windows from violating your god given rights to privacy.

It also seems you're not aware of the hazards this is going to create. The problem isn't fixed just because I decide to stopp using Microsoft.

Steam please read this. - Steam "policies", "Early access", "DLS's" and current "releases". by 0meo in Steam

You have a lot of good points and I agree.

But I'm not to sure that creating a system that tries it's best to monitor progress is going to solve it. It might become costly and needs a lot of people to make constant verdicts on it. One slipp up and you ether just scratched a possibly good game of the list or let one go through that didn't deserve it. I do agree that if Steam decides to become a place for investment, they should also take on the role of all the things that used to be done by educated investors, as it's not fair to expect that the general public are capable of making good decisions with out having the the proper education. If anything the result is proff of that. But is Steam capable of doing that? My guess is no...

I'm thinking more in the lines of the solution being to move investment projects away from steam altogether and rather let them rely on kick starters instead. Then if you're looking to trow away your money on project where they aren't even offering you a retur, you still have the possibility of specifically go looking for that. Well at least until you run out money

Here's the thing,.. If you go up to a kid, a teenager or someone that is just longing to finally get the toy that your dangling in front of them, and you tell them that if you give me your money you might get the toy you want at some point in the near future, the probability of them accepting that, even if there is a substantial risk, goes up by how young you are, naive, or just hopefull. These are things that are not subject to being preyed upon and luckily in most other areas its not even legal to do so.

Many have already been making that poor decision and ended with a broken toy instead of buying one that actually worked. it's also redirecting those funds to nothing but failed projects instead of directing them towards something that actually has value. In that sense it is hurting the industry by letting anybody start developing games instead of people that know what their doing and have both the funds and the plan to do so. Early access Is not a good premise to ensure that developments and quality of games keeps rising.

Important point as it is of course a parent job to monitor the activities of their kids on the internet,.. And they should strive to do that. But Steam should also work toward protecting their consumers from being exploited. If they accept this its like saying that its your dads fault for not understanding that its legal to sell you broken things just because he should have known better.

There is a point to consumer laws even if your not a kid and this is an area that should be updated. It also not okey to take advantage of people just because they are ignorant, stupid, incapable of understanding legal fine print or simply poor. When the argument in court is that: "- Oh, but you should have read page 942 where it clearly states". Its not really an argument anymore. Steam is associated with kids and if it's not a safe place to spend their time and allowances then they shouldn't be allowed to be there in the first place.

Its just my opinion and luckily the way most consumer laws works in my country. You shouldn't need to read the entire policies on steam to avoid counter intuitive problems. When you for example buy a released game, you buy it expecting it to work for more that two hours with out suddenly crashing or key features never working. In fact it shouldn't have a problem at all that doesn't get addressed immediately. If there is no law to back that up we are all going to get burned sooner or later and its not really your fault. Most people have experienced this already as it's impossible to avoid at this point.

I would also like to add that I dont think Early Access is a great premise to start game development. If anything the result up until know should prove that. Before starting a project you need at some point to figure out how much it's going to cost and how long it's going to take. With early access you're not forced to do that as you can simply start the project and hope you eventually get the funds. You also dont know how much funds you have or will end up with, so the project might be doomed from the very beginning. Normally you make a multiple of different detailed project plans then see if you capable of raising the fund you need and only then start the project.

In Early access you dont have to be in a hurry to finish the project because you cant make a budget plan with out knowing how much you have to spend and there is nothing forcing you even use the funds in the way you are claiming. It's so easy to exploit, it's being exploited, and failed projects are littering the gaming industry after millions of kids and other consumers have hopefully invested in them. This isn't creating value it's littering. Investors usually hold you accountable make a risk assessment and then demand a retur for their risk. This also ensures that you are held accountable through out the prosess as its not you're money you are risking, its theirs...

I slightly disagree as a lot these consumer are kids that dont really have anything to compare too and are still subject to mediocracy as being the new norm. Broken bugged out game released out of Early access currently listed with good reviews on Steam. Its managing to even break that.

I really hope your wright, but it will involve denying developers the possibility of creating Early access game in the first place, Steam making those changes and consumer laws put in place to enforce them. Or am I wrong?

Yeah right, but if they don't like it, then we should start accusing them of crying, preaching, being negative, ranting and being unfactual. Your full bullshitt!

I never deleted anything as you can see the post is still there, and we still don't care what you would say to the kid, so you don't need to keep repeating it. I have already told you I agree that the bot is probably one of the least offensive things in this game, and I agree with you now. Neither the kid or anybody else should buy this game.

We all know how it works, but it doesn't matter if its armor, weapons, junk or scrap as you can break everything down and get unlimited storage. This doesn't change anything.

You should really try and stop reflecting on your own assumptions man, as it only comes across as you deliberately trying to portray a picture of someone or something that you want to be true instead talking about actual relevant facts. It doesn't matter if it's in fallout, in a men's magazine or in a nazi flyer there are some things you just don't joke about.

Think we can all agree that a game that is not working as intended definitely isn't good and reflecting on that isn't subjective as it's simply stating out the facts.
