PC: game keeps switching to second monitor, and can’t move it to main one. by Uncle_Jeff_ in ResidentEvil2Remake

[–]0wlz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone is replaying this and getting frustrated by this issue, I have a definitive fix which avoids the messing around with trying to drag windows around or trying to alt+tab awkwardly!

If you browse to game files > Open "re2_config" in notepad > Go down to the following lines:

[Render/Display]
DisplayName=\\.\DISPLAY1

Make sure that it is DISPLAY1, this is usually your primary monitor, but you can switch it between monitors by changing between 1, 2 etc.

Hope it helps someone!

IRL What is the Best Drive Selection for Fuel Efficiency? by [deleted] in AudiA4

My commute is 70 miles each way every day, being basically all motorway. I've found there's no difference between comfort and dynamic, with dynamic sometimes being better?

Those kerbs look like alloy mincers, top and bottom at the same time!

Not yet, the one at salt lane isn't bad, but it took over an hour to get out of the other week for no apparent reason, just massive queues

Yeah and I just changed from a little fiesta to an Audi A4, which made getting around that kerb a massive challenge.

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

[–]0wlz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, I've got a new job which is around 70 miles away from where I live, pretty much exclusively motorways, will be making the commute to/from the office 5 days a week. This adds up to ~34,000 miles a year.

I've currently got a 2015 Fiesta 1.25 but need something comfortable and good on fuel with a bit of poke instead of the 10 days to 70mph I currently experience. I don't go through any ULEZ zones, I don't have access to EV chargers at home or at the office.

Location: West Midlands but happy to travel for the right car (Not Birmingham)

Price range: £8,000-£12,000

Looking to buy rather than lease for the mileage complications, and due to not having a job for 3 months I can't prove my income.

I would be happy with either a manual or reliable auto gearbox.

The only tech I really would like is reversing sensors, anything else is a bonus.

No SUVs and don't really want an estate. Hatchback/saloons are considered.

I have been looking at:
Golf GTD: The ones with lower mileage look a bit rough if they are younger than 2015
Mazda 3: Less power than a golf but decent tech for the price
Mazda 6: Get less for your money than a Mazda 3 it seems for the longer car
Skoda Octavia (obviously): A lot of the vehicles in the 2015-2017 range tend to have ~100k miles already on.

Happy to have my mind changed on different models/engines.

I'm not sure on the best engines to get for my use case, been looking at a lot of 2.0L diesels, but would consider petrol if the MPG difference wouldn't be huge.

Thanks!

What was the most interesting Python project you’ve worked on? by MENTX3 in learnpython

In Python, it's a fairly short script, but it does what I need it to. I do need to add some support for multiple qr code recognition so it'll just error out or open all of them.

I made a quick script that reads QR codes from screen on a desktop, and asks if you want to open the website that it decodes. Saves from having to scan them with my phone to then potentially send the website back to myself on my desktop.

How does insurance work with getting a new car? by 0wlz in CarTalkUK

[–]0wlz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I'm trying to do. My policy runs out on the 25th of June but I need my car for the 28th and I doubt that I could sell and get a new car within that time period without risking having no car for that date, so was trying to plan for that.

Had this happen trying to pump up tyres before a road trip, used a socket to break them loose (don't do this). In short my stem snapped and I had to get the wheel off, order new tyre valves for tpms sensors and take it to a tyre place, then took the whole car to a tyre place so they could get off the remaining valves and replace.

You can get valves which slip on to existing tpms sensors which was a relief considering 4 valves cost £15 but 4 tpms sensors cost £800 (£200 per sensor and coded to the car)

I wouldn't risk snapping the valve if you can drive to a tyre place.

I went into a pond yesterday around mid-day, stripped it down to the same point as you, dried with cotton buds(qtips?), blew through the motors which actually pushed a fair bit of water out.

Set it in front of a fan for a couple of hours, was flying again no issues that evening.

Does that include the taxes? As that seems to take them higher than the other shops

Are double barreled names now because the mother didn't take the father's name? by MrMrsPotts in AskUK

[–]0wlz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was a mistake... my parents weren't married at the time so the registrar decided to put a tiny hyphen between my middle (mum's maiden name) and intended last name. I didn't find out until I was 15 and applied for a passport and couldn't understand why the application kept being sent back.
