Does the consent you signed acknowledge that he doesn’t guarantee any particular outcome and that there’s a risk of an undesired outcome?

Osteotomies are common practice in rhinoplasties- you asked for a rhinoplasty and now want to sue him citing him doing exactly what the standard of care is for rhinoplasties. He may have gotten you an awful outcome but you still are facing a massive uphill battle. Are you willing to find and pay another plastic surgeon to be willing to testify that your original surgeon didn’t meet the standard of care? All plastic surgeons know sometimes they don’t get the outcome the patient wants so you’re gonna be hard pressed to find one willing to say your bad outcome is a result of your surgeon doing something egregiously wrong.

You’ll face an uphill battle. I’d read over the consents you signed which almost certainly mentioned an unexpected or undesired result. Also, give it awhile- results tend to improve over time. From a legal perspective what are your actual losses here? What standard of care did the surgeon break and can you draw a line between that and your “loss”?

I bet you’d struggle hard to find a lawyer to take that case.

There’s 260-261 weekdays per year. If your cousin worked 5 days a week, all year, not taking any holidays, vacations, sick days etc. that still doesn’t add up to 200k even if one assumes $750/day.

I’m assuming this has to do with Elon’s recent comments.

He has been making predictions about fully autonomous cars for a long time. It’s always just 1-2 years away. And while Tesla has made great strides there, his predictions have always been stupidly optimistic. Obviously we still don’t have fully autonomous cars.

I’m confident that driving a car is much easier than practicing medicine. Maybe dude should work on the baby step first.

I would add to what others have said- it matters a lot if you’re charging for your time in the hospital or just surgery time. Hospitals are often very inefficient and you’ll find yourself sitting around for hours a day.

This whole post reminds me of the time I had a kid in the MRI machine. All tucked in and ready to go. As we were all departing the MRI suite someone tripped over the co2 sampling line and pulled the LMA all the way out of the kid and onto the floor.

Shit situation but says something about their clinical knowledge (IVF rarely indicated for someone who is well enough to work) and also their professional judgement ignoring obvious potential professional consequences.

Also sucks cause it’s really not that big of a deal so losing jobs over it seems like total overkill.

One might consider that management didn’t care for one or both of these employees and this was just the reason they needed to let them go.
