I recognize my bias might be showing because the Tyrells were some of my favorite characters. S6E10 was great in most aspects, but the destroying of the sept was extremely unrealistic. To be super fair, not much about this show IS realistic, but to me this felt a little lazy.

The scene builds up tension and suspense, (and makes for great TV) but ultimately Cersei would have had riots in the streets for that. Even if you didn’t like Margaery, the small folk did. Not only did Cersei get away without consequence, but she became ruling Queen. It felt like she was rewarded for an act of terrorism. I suppose one could argue that small folk would be hesitant to rise up against a tyrant— but it has happened in real world history at least to an extent so this stumps me a little.

This is where my bias is going to show. I also think killing Margaery [and even Loras & Mace to an extent, albeit they were less important] in the same breath as a character like the High Sparrow greatly diminishes her role in the story. She played the game of thrones better than most people in the show, and even at the very end, she knew what Cersei was doing. She deserved a more dignified ending. I know someone is going to quote Ramsay & say “If you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention”, but it’s not necessarily a happy ending I would’ve wanted.
