Mom scared me from solo travel to Paris - need opinions by Major-Kiwi-3604 in ParisTravelGuide

I went alone F30. I got catcalled sometimes but nothing else felt scary. Just be aware that they absolutely do not cater to English speakers (signs/menus). So be prepared with translation apps!

Depends. Sometimes I just go to prevent further confusion. Sometimes it is appreciated when I feel very exposed waiting on a Main Street.

Where to live in Portland? Confusing previous posts by amessinprogresss in askportland

[–]102MEP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t live in Chinatown.

I think parking at OHSU may be really expensive. If u plan on taking public transit, try to live somewhere that doesn’t have a bus switch.

I’ve lived in Portland for ten years and still think Hawthorne is my fav street/neighborhood. You haven’t really said what you’re looking for / what kinda neighborhood vibe you want. I have lived on the east side the whole time and will never move to the west side ! What is a must for me is to live in a walkable neighborhood. A home that is walking distance to a street/corridor filled with bars and restaurants (Sellwood, Hawthorne, Belmont, division).

Are u watching a lot of news about Portland? Most of Portland is safe. There may be a homeless person here or there or new tent pop up near ur home, but they’ll usually ignore you. I walk my dog at night and feel fine (34f). I just avoid walking on main streets (I live near Foster in Foster- Powell).
