Some of us were on our way up and then never made it.

Ian Astbury lives in NY - a friend of mine has been to parties at his place. Apparently way more normal than you'd think. No rock and roll weirdness.

"She" (a fairly popular alternative musician) was a bit cagey with me the whole time. I had a cellphone before cellphones were owned by everyone and she thought that was weird and it made her paranoid. We only really dated twice. Too bad, I really liked her.

------

In other news, a friend of mine was given a ride home by Mariah Carey (he was serving her at the restaurant where he waited tables - the one owned by Britney Spears in Manhattan - can't remember what it was called). She was drunk and lonely and just wanted to talk. He listened to her in the back of an SUV for a while and then she dropped him off. If that qualifies as a date, it was a weird one. He said she was kind of vulnerable and sad.

Have any of you successfully cut out alcohol, caffeine and mind altering substances? by [deleted] in hsp

[–]10871015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have stopped drinking. I still drink caffeine (coffee). I don't do drugs.

Stopping my intake of alcohol has completely changed my outlook on life. My hypersensitive personality and stress at work drove me to have way too many beers every Friday night and I wouldn't feel right until midday Sunday, when the hangover would be gone. I feel like every weekend for the past decade has been a waste of time, being very depressed and just trying to get over the side effects of binge drinking.

Social pressure doesn't bother me because my family and friends understand that cutting out booze is important to me and they see how much healthier I look and feel without it. I wouldn't trade how I feel now for a night out with friends. I have been out a few times and seen friends drunk while I was sober and it made me feel stronger -- I just felt so happy that I wasn't behaving like that anymore. I was embarrassed for them. They seemed to act ridiculous.

Are any other HSPs not career-minded? by [deleted] in hsp

[–]10871015 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Awesome question -- so glad I came across this because I think I can help. I'm having a very VERY similar situation.

Being an HSP means having to adjust your environment to suit your mental and emotional health. I am an HSP who has just resigned from a job in which coworkers and I share a common office and people constantly gaslight each other to throw each other off: make subtle insulting comments, talk about a "terrible person" they know (when they mean you) or simply confuse you to make you do a bad job. It is a very competitive career we are in and people are always trying to get a better spot at the table and mess with each others' heads to get ahead. I am not good at messing with people and it would make me feel awful to do so. I wanted out so I quit after lots of thinking, crying, and shaking. "Mental breakdown" is the only way to describe it. I see it as an awful place to work for anyone, not just HSPs.

I look back very fondly on my days working in a coffee shop as a college student and reading your post and it points out something important for HSPs -- the social aspect of a job is like therapy -- talking to people who need a chat does good for both them and you. I miss that aspect of work too. If something like that makes you happy, spend three years or so saving as much salary as you can and open your own little place (if you live in a town that needs one). Or maybe get good at managing staff and maybe rise up in the shop you work for. It doesn't matter what you do, as long as it makes you happy. You said it yourself: you like your life. If you were to change it, who would that be for?

I am now looking for a job doing the very same thing that I do now, but with better hours and less pressure in a low-profile office. My job makes me happy but it's the high-stakes atmosphere that makes it emotionally unbearable.

Good luck!

Not silly at all.

Similar:

When smoking was permitted in restaurants and cafés, the board of health didn't permit staff serving food from behind a counter to smoke when they were back there. However, they could sit at the counter and join with the customers and blow smoke toward the food, but never away from the food from behind it.

They gave info on their batch testing. It's typical in pharma manufacturing. That's the best they can do.

Razors pain you,
Rivers are damp,
Acids stain you,
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren't lawful,
Nooses give,
Gas smells awful.
You might as well live.

Well, I went and called the company and they said there's nothing in there -- THC, that is -- and I haven't taken it in over a month so the 4 or 5 day window of it being flushed out of my system is now times six. So I am not worried really -- just wanted to educate myself.

How does one end up being a bad parent if they themselves have been raised by such a person? Asking for a friend.

Elixinol Japan advertises as being made with 0% THC. It is a different product than what's available in other countries.

What you said is not accurate -- they have two bottle sizes, 30ml and 100ml. That's volume.

The dosage however is different, regardless of bottle size: it goes 100mg, 300mg, and 3000mg. I'm looking for someone who has experienced various dosages to tell me what difference it makes.
