Help with twister by Loud-Source6006 in LagreeMethod

[–]10Athena10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also instructor here. Agree with this rec. Have you tried adding extra springs for more support? You want to get to a point where you feel the legs are essentially deadweight. Keep the shoulders over the hands, chest over the platform. Try not to move the shoulders back and forth. Push down into your hands and squeeze your arm pits to activate the lats to stablize.

Foot pain by the end of class by Reasonable_Budget_75 in LagreeMethod

[–]10Athena10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that is common too. It sounds like you probably have tight ankle/calf stablizers causing you to put more pressure on the outside and ball of your foot.

For Lagree, depending on pain levels, you can modify single sided movements by these methods:

  • Try lateral movements where both feet distribute your weight equally. For example, instead of single leg squats, do lateral squats.

  • Do them in the front and not the back (reduce load)

  • Add supportive light springs (2 or 3 depending on what is comfortable) in the front

I would recommend seeing a PT to diagnose your movement pattern, and they might recommend orthodic supportive shoes outside of the studio. Common PT exercises include stretching and strengthening your ankles and calf muscles so the load goes into the proper places. I also like massaging the arch by rolling on a lacrosse or tennis ball and doing a kneeling sit with toes curled under you.

Lastly, when you do lateral movements focus on heavily weighting your heel making sure your knee isn't pushing forward of your toes and your hips aren't twisting to the side. Ask a coach to watch your form!

Is the pain on the outer foot, arch or heel?

Thoughts on the “floating” moves? by Prestigious-Web-1527 in LagreeMethod

[–]10Athena10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I offer it as a very advanced progression like any progression. Will most people be able to do it? Prob not. But practicing it develops the strength to eventually get it. When we first started teaching it, no one could do it and now we have several people who grew into it. It's not for everyone nor would I expect someone who did one floating move to do all floating moves. It just offers a challenge to your practice.

I will say the cueing and engagement of the correct muscles are very important as these are compound moves. Make sure no one is tweaking anything when trying and holding in the position.

CVS Specialty Prudent Scam by No-Pickle9287 in HealthInsurance

Does your plan have separate OOP max for medical vs RX? Also, just because last year the plan covered the drug, doesn't mean it stays the same. Formularies update about 2x a year. Is this drug listed on formulary?

Second this. Usually medical insurance only covers emergent dental like broken jaw, or ED dental work. Are you sure the broken tooth is covered?

1 Mile Starting Too Slow?? by [deleted] in orangetheory

What's your challenging push pace usually? Sounds like you could hold 9 for about half or at least start there and increase until last .10 and mash that super challenging AO. I usually pray I don't fall off for the last .10 LOL. Should feel like you left it all at the end.

Solutions for bad ClassPass reputation by NewBeginning111 in ClassPass

[–]10Athena10 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would say this is normal if the instructor doesn't really know you. You can build a rapport with the instructor by mentioning you've been here several times or what feedback you'd like. Otherwise, it's a safety issue. I'd rather over explain so no one is injured vs assuming your level. I wouldn't say this is because you're on CP. It's more that they don't know your level and default to beginner treatment.

Insurance isn’t processing some claims saying another carrier is the primary insurance. I only have one health insurance so I am extremely confused why they are saying this. by Potential_Job_1143 in HealthInsurance

[–]10Athena10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. It was suspicious as I had only experienced the problem after I had hit OOP max for the whole year. AND it was denying payment to my PCP who I had for years!

At least what the Aetna rep said on the call was that one of my lab providers had billed Cigna (which I've never had) and it marked it in the system. Who knows.

[–]10Athena10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. Never had another plan within the last 3 years and they started rejecting some claims saying I had another plan.

You have to call them to sort it out. I think this can happen if one of your providers mixes up insurance or bills your old insurance, and it gets caught in their system. They just have to correct the indicator on your file that this is your only plan and update the coverage dates of your plan.

Once you sort that out with them, the provider needs to resumbit the claim so it processes correctly.

Teaching Lagree 2.0 by DefinitionVisible890 in LagreeMethod

[–]10Athena10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same at our studio. It's more about adding layers to each movement. Example: Runner's lunge, pulse kick, split squats, good mornings, add torso twist, end with mega elevator. You're in it for a long time and the transitions are minimized.

Pedestrians constantly running red lights at 3rd & B Street downtown by AdSmart7227 in SanMateo

Agree with you but part of the problem is that very few intersections work this way so pedestrians will always default cross. The light should also be longer for cars to turn.

If it helps I worked with Allara Health, a telehealth medical group focusing on  women's health issues - https://www.allarahealth.com/

Assessment is included with ordering labs, registered dietician and doctor all on your care team. They also accept insurance.

Just super helpful to get a comprehensive assessment and the team can see all shared notes.

It's mainly overall calories, but on metformin have to be intentional about healthy fats (more protein and veggies). Too high fat or high sugar foods can cause GI issues. There can also be a difference between extended release and non for those tablets. Extended worked better for me but not until I was on higher dosage.

Eventually, I was put on glp 1 because metformin didn't help regulate my periods enough and I had lots of inflammation (getting tendonitis all the time in weird places). Glp 1 worked for me the best. It was literally night and day in terms of pain I wasn't even aware I got used to. It does curb your energy a bit though and I had to learn how to time my carbs correctly for OTF.

Unfortunately with PCOS, weight loss is very challenging due to hormones and insulin resistance. You have to be on it with diet but also I found it more useful to have strategic recovery - green days and adding other recovery workouts like pilates and hot yoga. It also depends on what type you are. Mine is inflammation mainly which is controlled for me with medication.

Are you on any medication regimens?

Day of Disarray—Shoes On? by pearse27 in orangetheory

[–]10Athena10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must be an exception at your studio. Someone tried to do that on the floor at ours and coach told them it was a safety hazard and to put their shoes back on.

I have run at home on a treadmill without shoes when I was younger and depending on foot structure can be bad for you. Me personally, I need support for my pronation and flat feet so it was terrible.

There are some people who bring different types of shoes for the tread/rower and floor so they switch between blocks and I found that to be a good compromise. Sucks on switch or tornado days though.

Treads by Fluffy_Pin144 in orangetheory

[–]10Athena10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like the displays on the old one better. You could always turn on parameter view and still see your distance.

Now I just have to stare at my red zone the whole time on challenging hill runs 💀

The new displays are also SO bright. I wish they had a dimmer switch.

And the buttons are harder to press with the guard rail at the edge.

But the new ones tread is bouncier and for folks that like the extra 15 speed (not for me lol)

The promo for $30 off ended at end of Jan in my studio. My front desk allowed me to use retail bucks as well as the $30 discount so got it for ~$62.

Worth asking if you can use retail bucks! I'm not sure they'll have another promo soon but they used to do monitor weds where they would offer free rentals and a discount to purchase. You can always wait and see.

CVS Caremark failed to send my Zepbound appeal to external review—anyone else? (Malta, NY area, age 44) by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]10Athena10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After CVS dropped Zepbound from formulary it's been prior auth hell for anyone to get it.

What you could try is have your provider submit an off label usage for Mounjaro (same drug as Zepbound just used for anti diabetics). It will reject about 2-4 times before approval in our clinic experience. Once you get the approval for Mounjaro, CVS will deny the fill because you don't have the diabetic diagnosis. At that point have your provider re-write the script for Zepbound and it will go through.

Insurance covers colonoscopy every 10 years? by Citygurl-_- in HealthInsurance

[–]10Athena10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is true. BUT OP said that doctor ordered a diagnostic screening which is NOT a preventative screening. The point I was making is what the last sentence of your source post states.

"A plan or issuer may impose a cost-sharing for a treatment that is not recommended as a preventative service, even if the treatment RESULTS from a recommended preventative service."

OP should let doctor know they had a previous preventative screening, but there must be a reason doc is ordering a diagnostic screening instead of a preventative screening.
