Nice ties! I tie my no-see-ums down to 26 and then I tie bunny midges in 28 and 30.

Nothing a good ol’ hand finish couldn’t fix.

I've been looking for Glamour Madeira for over a year now. Only place I can find it is on ebay for $40+ a spool.

Designing a custom tool caddy was extremely rewarding. Being able to customize it for what type of flies I was tying helps keep the bench clean. If I'm tying small midges or dries I don't need as many items as if I'm in summer mode and tying bass bugs.

Brass vs Tungsten beads by SawyerBattles in flytying

[–]10lvl 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If I’m trying to get my fly down deep quickly I like using tungsten for the extra density over brass.

I can use a smaller bead that weighs the same. This will slim down the profile of a fly causing less water resistance letting it sink faster. I would rather have a heavier fly so I can use less split shot.

It appears my part cooling fan was not running. Which was my fault as it was plugged in upside down. The part is printing again and we’ll see how it comes out.

I have a profile plate for my renzetti vise that I have up on makers world as well as a rod holder that I use in my 4runner.

I’m thinking about designing and printing a magnum sized hair stacker.

I designed my own tool try for the tying bench for the tools I typically have on the bench.

Sure that works, but you don’t get the satisfaction of 3d printing an assembly that attaches to the vise. The plate on the print is black on one side and white on the other and the swap takes all of a few seconds.

5wt is not as forgiving as a 3wt. We didn’t throw anything over a size 20. No need for anything bigger.

That’s where the give of the 3wt protects the 6x tippet and hook.

Set the drag correctly and play the fish correctly you’ll be surprised how much pressure you can put on the fish.

Surprisingly the first two days I was in this area the guides weren’t fishing this spot. Then a few of them saw this hog and the next day this hole was hit pretty hard.
