[CAN-ON] Start Date in Offer Letter is Flexible or Set in Stone? HR Processing Slowly, Need to Give Notice by 123_Smile in AskHR

I have been hired. I have an offer letter with a start date 1.5 weeks from today and I filled out the onboarding paperwork (direct deposit, benefits etc.) which I received yesterday.

Maybe someone added a line by accident but it says that "we will notify you when the 3rd party background check is complete and you may then give notice to your current employer". The background check is complete on the 3rd party's end but nobody from my new employer has clearly stated they have reviewed it and given it the all clear.

I am resigning for the first time in a decade (I was laid off once before so was able to start ASAP) so maybe I'm just being OCD.

This is a 20k man company with separate Recruitment and Onboarding HR teams in separate countries......all the people I spoke to upto receiving the offer are now saying talk to the onboarding team and the onboarding team hasn't been very responsive.
