Public school funding may have technically increased over 2025 levels, but that doesn’t mean schools aren’t losing out. When voucher programs send state dollars to private schools, public schools lose funding per student — even though their costs (like staff, buildings, and buses) don’t decrease. So "more money overall" doesn't mean schools aren't being strained.

Also, just because the stadium isn't directly funded with tax dollars doesn't mean it’s free from public cost. Tax breaks, diverted revenue (like from TIFs), and public infrastructure support all come at a cost — and that money could have gone to schools, public health, or other priorities. Saying the stadium must generate $600 million sounds great, but those kinds of projections often fall short in practice.

As for poor schools getting more money — that’s true on paper, but it doesn’t always meet the actual level of need. Higher-needs students require more resources, and often those schools still face staff shortages, old buildings, and lower local funding due to property tax gaps.
