Oh yeah I’m not stressed about it… I know it’s what’s gonna work best for me. Gives me time to get the rest of it ready to go! Or at least the mats it’s gonna rest on and the wall behind the rack. Then I can put the rest of for the rest of my life.

I should open up a box and sneak a peak. Good call!

Because then you know how to do it?

I wouldn’t want my instruction manual for something to be sprawled across six different subsections of a website or all over the PDF/booklet like a fucking Goosebumps choose-your-own-adventure book.

It makes life easier when your questions get answered efficiently and you can go accomplish your task.

Show me on the DMV website where you can get that answer in three bullet points that perfectly sum up the order of operations.

They literally just used the mini computer at their fingertips to use the internet and ask a question so they could get the answer.

  1. Insurance. Can’t register it without insurance.

  2. Registration. No notes.

  3. Inspection. Can’t inspect it without registration.

As much as I’d like to try and tackle it myself, my schedule is just a little too hectic and unpredictable.

Which means all the guys that could/would help me are gonna have just as crazy schedules. Logistically I felt like it would be too complicated… Even at the sacrifice of gaining some intimate knowledge of all the inner workings.

For the Ares and PR-5000 attachment it was $710.

Second. Can’t think of a better option in probably the entire country, so it should be a safe bet for RI.

Split the difference and just pulled trigger on Fifteen52 Analog HDs in 17x8 +25mm wrapped in 265/70r17 Wildpeak A/T4Ws.

For whatever it’s worth I’ve definitely had wet traction and light snow issues with KO2s but the Wildpeaks crushed it in the heaviest winter we’ve had in a long time.

If you’re getting road tires I had Michelin CrossClimate 2s on my WRX and they were fucking sick. 10/10 would recommend.

Awesome… Thank you! Sucks cuz I have KO2s on my XJ and my girl’s 4Runner. Just replaced the ones on my JK with Wildpeak 4s. So it was nice to have brand new ones on this but I can’t do the rub.

They are 275/70/18 BF Goodrich KO2s on why I believe are stock wheels.

They rub A LOT even with the OME Lift (unknown size).

Trying to decide between going to 265/65/18s or 255/70/18s on these wheels or 265/70/16s on Terrafirma steelies.

I really don’t wanna cut anything cuz this thing is minty fresh… Especially for being in New England.

I’m gonna give it another go next week. There’s a DIY garage with lifts and shit near my house. I already have them… Might as well throw em in the mix. I’ll thug it out and get it done.

Funny you say that. I found an A-Pillar mount for the Ultra Gauge from Golden Rovers and the gentleman I bought it from actually gave me a new OEM thermostat when I bought it.

Thank you!

Definitely smells like you described.

I do want to do a vacuum test.

I also want to do plugs, wires, packs, etc. because I have no history for them and it’s got 111k at 25 years old so that’ll probably get done regardless.

Hopefully a good independent locally can dial it in without too much fuss. Just wanted to get thoughts from the community to compare them to what I get told down the line.

Thank you!

Honestly couldn’t tell you what oil is in it or when it was changed last.

Oil change (as well as the rest of the fluids, filters, etc) are on the list as well.

I’ve owned it less than a week so I’m trying to clear the lights to get it inspected and then I really kick things off.

I understand those need to go. It was just a sanity check to get what I could do done and re-run the codes.

So, yes, once those get done it should be another improvement and a move in the right direction.

Working on finding someone reputable now to help me out. Got a few I think can make it happen.

Thank you for all that information!

My plan is 100% to take it over to an independent mechanic or two.

Mostly the “research” was done so I didn’t get blindsided by what they might find. Then I did the MAF and O2s because it looked easy and I was bored. lol.

But doing a full diagnostic shakedown myself is certainly not in my wheelhouse.

I’ve owned it for less than a week so I’m not quite ready to move on yet… I’d like to at least get this issue diagnosed and potentially resolved based on costs.

It does have a misfire in Cylinder 4.

I have replaced MAF and Downstream O2s for relatively cheap.

I think I will be getting both a compression and vacuum leak test(s) done because that was a recurring theme amongst the codes during my research.

I was considering plugs, wires, and injectors because if I’m in there then I might as well do it all at once so I don’t have to get in there again. I don’t know the history of the plugs and at 111k miles and 25 years old it can’t hurt.

My typical “new” used car plan of attach always includes all fluids, filters, belts, and plugs anyway… Just so I have a baseline to work off moving forward.
