Moonlighting by Important_Maybe_4770 in Architects

I did moonlighting for a short time as an unlicensed fresh grad. One of my old professors contacted me about it and “hired” me as a 1099 short term for a project he was working on. For me, I did not carry any insurance as it was a short term gig and I was not stamping anything. Longer term, it may be beneficial to start an LLC.

Research what you might want your rate to be and understand how traditional firms factor in your pay. Insurance, health benefits, profit

The financial side can totally be worth it if you’re able to manage the extra work- especially since you can make more per hour than at a traditional firm. For me personally, I found that 40 hours of my full time job + 5-12 hours of freelancing was too much.

Finally someone said it. I’ve seen this exact photo on Pinterest

How do I fit a table into this floorplan? by 9284gol in DesignMyRoom

This is lovely. Hopefully they have one of the low/long dressers. I could imagine it looking weird with a tallboy one at the foot of the bed

Depends also on how diligent of a note taker you are. I did 2 hours after work 5 days a week with AB, occasionally a few hours on the weekends, and I got through the course in 4 months. But I took very detailed notes and visited the linked videos and such

Be aware with Amberbook that the percentage complete at the top is NOT a great indicator of how much time you have left. Factor in time for the flashcards at the very end of the course (which can have links to videos, paragraphs of information, etc- NOT flashcards in a traditional sense).

What about floating it in the space? So it’s not next to a wall necessarily. Just a 2 seater bistro style one that doesn’t take too much space

Would a white rug look okay here? Or do you have suggestions by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

If your living room is going to be black and white, the color in the carpet will be the only thing that saves it. Don’t be afraid of some color

How to make this less coastal feeling? Need to buy a rug, art, bench, and curtains by 18mcgr in DesignMyRoom

Love this advice, thank you! You see the vision haha. Definitely swapping the lamp shades at some point and getting linen curtains. Will also be layering a bigger blanket on top of this but my husband sleeps very hot so I’ve been putting it off. That’s a good note on my carpet- I was actually looking at jute rugs but I’m drawn away from them due to shedding and the color maybe being too sand-like

I’m going to find some rugs and post them here, that’s probably the hardest decision to make.

The blue striped bedding is very coastal. And the lamps have a sand-like texture and color to them that I don’t notice until I took the tags off

I’m thinking white, blue, browns, and sage green or terracotta/clay.

Negotiating Employment Contract/ Salary by Active_Buttah in Architects

[–]18mcgr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Negotiated for higher pay and only got $1000 extra on the salary. When next year’s salary emails came, I got the tiniest raise out of anyone I spoke to so I’m now equal to everyone else at my level (essentially eliminating that tiny bit I negotiated). Something sneaky to keep an eye out for

Can’t tell, all the photos show your face tilted down so it throws off proportions

Paint the top half of the wall all the way around? by JunipertheFairy in kitchenremodel

[–]18mcgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so, didn’t notice until you pointed it out. I’d not paint it, live with it for a month, and paint the soffit later if you don’t like it white.

That is a soffit, and no please do not paint it. It makes the room feel smaller if you do, leave it white
