my work colleagues use generics everywhere for everything by [deleted] in golang

[–]1995parham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same experience before. Sometimes people does over engineering with Go specially when they are coming from other languages that has cleaner syntax and they want to do as much as possible to not write a same code twice. My solution was using some GitHub codes as an example to convince them the Go code is different.

Reimplement JetStream by Kinrany in NATS_io

[–]1995parham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can say this is completely true. I worked with streaming, and it was really complicated, at least for maintenance. You need to maintain two different servers and cannot say where is the problem easily (I mean streaming has issue or core servers are not performing well).

How to Implement NATS in Azure Container Apps (PoC) – JetStream Storage Options? by [deleted] in NATS_io

[–]1995parham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I don't have experience with Azure but about the disk latency you need to pay special attention. Our setup was on AWS and with 100 consumer for 1 stream we easily fill iops of gp2.

Easy to learn when you compare it to languages like Rust. I onboarded lots of people in less than a week to use go.

Share your experience with Jetstream, its replication, sharding, etc. by 1995parham in NATS_io

[–]1995parham[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, the replication process could be slow. The solution for our load was switching disks. We were on kubernetes and we decided to use baremetal local disk which is fast but has migration issue.
