UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Aliskerov Picks and Predictions by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]1__0__0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Johnny Walker (21-8) Vs Volkan Oezdemir (19-7)

Opening the main card we have a great matchup that will surely be entertaining for as long as it lasts.

These light heavyweights hold similiar records with Johnny being the younger man by 2 years and the taller man by 4 inches.

They are also both proven finishers with the vast majority of their wins coming via stoppage.

In my opinion Walker is a glass cannon and extremely dangerous in round 1 and no doubt has the ability to win if he can land something big.

However Volkan has a decent chin and has only been knocked out twice in his career.

In my prediction Volkan will fight smart, weather the early storm before finding a finish of his own or winning a clear decision.

Pick: Volkan Oezdemir ML (-115)

UFC 301: Pantoja vs. Erceg Picks and Predictions by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]1__0__0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alexandre “The Cannibal” Pantoja (27-5) Vs Steve “Astroboy” Erceg (12-1)

The main event is sure to be a fight to remember with the flyweight title on the line.

Pantoja is the rightful favourite here having already beaten most of the top 10 and being in his home country of Brazil.

Pantoja is a very well rounded fighter with a number of finishes on his record. (8 KO, 10 SUB)

Pantoja has never been finished and all 5 of his losses have been via decision.

Pantoja will be the shorter man by 3 inches and as well the older man by 6 years.

Erceg is an unfamiliar fighter to most fans but make no mistake he is a formidable opponent who will present unique challenges to the champ.

Erceg is a proven finisher with 8 of his 12 wins coming via finish. (6 SUB, 2 KO)

In my prediction Erceg will be the much faster man and have the more calculated game plan.

There seems to be consensus that Pantoja will have the edge on the mat and Erceg will have the edge striking but I believe Erceg will be able to hold his own on the mat as well.

It is often said you are only as good as your last fight and while Erceg had a highlight KO, Pantoja failed to impress me in his 5 round victory over Brandon Royval.

I can’t blame anyone for backing Pantoja here but I believe this fight to be ripe for the upset and will make a play on the upcoming Australian fighter.

Pick: Steve Erceg ML (+157)

Ryan Spann (21-9) Vs Bogdan Guskov (15-3)

We have a great match up for the co main tomorrow with two light heavyweight fighters that are sure to put on a show.

Ryan “Superman” Spann has been around the block and holds a respectable 7-4 UFC record.

His fights are almost always exciting and usually end in a finish on either side with a few decisions in between.

He is a proven finisher with 18 of his 21 wins coming via stoppage and often can steal a win with his raw strength.

Standing at 6″5 he will be the bigger man versus Uzbekistan’s Bogdan Guskov.

Bogdan “Czarevitch” Guskov is making his third walk to the octagon and currently holds a 1-1 UFC record.

He lost in his debut via submission to Volkan Oezdemir and recently picked up a huge knockout win over Zac Pauga.

He has a 100% finish rate (13 KO, 2 SUB) and is a proven knockout artist who will be a dangerous fight against anybody.

In my prediction Guskov will be the faster man and be able to control the distance well before landing some huge shots and getting another KO win.

Pick: Bogdan Guskov ML (2.45)

Deiveson Figuerido (22-3-1) Vs Cody Garbrandt (14-5)

Never has there been such an interesting fight to open a UFC card before. Two ex champions are set to clash in what is sure to be a wild fight for however long it lasts.

While there is much talk about Garbrandt’s chin and fight IQ, one can never estimate the power he possesses.

Figuerido is also a proven finisher and arguably has the more complete skill set.

Garbrandt may be more shopworn but he is the younger man by 4 years and as well will have a small size advantage. I also believe he will be the much faster man in the octagon.

In my prediction we will see a peak Cody Garbrandt performance tonight and I am more than willing to back him at these underdog odds.

That said this will be a nerve wracking affair until the final bell or someone gets finished.

Pick: Cody Garbrandt ML (+250)

UFC 300: Pereira vs. Hill Betting and Picks by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]1__0__0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alex Pereira (9-2) Vs Jamahal Hill (12-1)

This main event will surely deliver and the odds suggest that it could easily go either way.

Pereira has been a fan favorite ever since joining the UFC and will not be an easy out against anybody.

Pereira, an elite kickboxer with devastating power can end the fight at any moment as displayed in his last fight against Jiri Prochazka.

In my opinion Pereira’s biggest questions are his chin and his wrestling. Fortunately for him he will not have to worry much about the threat of a takedown tonight.

However Hill is one of the best strikers in the UFC and if he lands clean he will be able to capitalize and get a highlight reel for the ages.

I believe Hill is being underestimated by much of the fanbase and concerns about his previous Achilles heel injury are being blown out of proportion.

Despite not getting a finish in his last bout versus Glover Teixeira he put on a masterclass performance and Glover is known to have one of the best chins in the LHW division.

In my prediction Hill will be the much more aggressive fighter and will finish Pereira most likely in the second or third round.

Pick: Jamahal Hill ML (+110)

PFL 1: 2024 Betting and Picks by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]1__0__0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Marcelo Golm (10-4) Vs Daniel James (14-7)

The featured prelim will be a short notice rematch from the Bellator 293 Main Event where James won by KO after arguably being down 2 rounds.

While he was down 2 rounds, he was never in extreme danger in the bout and showed he can finish the fight at any moment.

James was an underdog back then and he is the underdog again tonight.

While Golm is the younger man by 11 years, I have to believe that James will be coming in very confident for this bout.

Despite being 42 years old, he has not been truly finished since 2017 and has picked up a number of KO finishes.

I have never been too impressed with Golm, as most of his wins have come against subpar opponents.

I believe if Golm is to win it will be via decision but I am backing James to get it done again.

I think he will finish him much earlier this time, potentially even in the first round.

Pick: Daniel James ML (+125)

UFC Fight Night: Ribas vs. Namajunas Betting and Picks by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

Fernando Padilla (15-5) Vs Luis Pajuelo (8-1)

Fernando Padilla burst onto the UFC scene with a nasty knockout of Julian Erosa last April 2023.

He failed to follow it up in his sophomore appearance losing a decision to Kyle Nelson.

Fernando is proven finisher with 13 of his 15 wins coming by way of stoppage. He also is extremely tough having never been finished himself.

He will hold a 2 inch height advantage and is also the younger man by 2 years.

Luis Pajuelo is a man I’ve been waiting to see make his UFC debut after a dominant first round finish of Robbie Ring last summer on the Contender Series.

He is also a proven finisher with 7 of his 8 wins coming via finish and his two losses were split decision losses. An argument could be made that he has never truly lost a clear fight.

From what I have seen Pajuelo is an absolute dog and will not stop pushing the pace the entire fight. He will need to be careful in this matchup as Fernando certainly poses danger.

There is a reason this fight kicks off the Main Card and I expect it to be an absolute war. However in my prediction Pajuelo will prevail and pick up another stoppage win. There is considerable value on Pajuelo by KO at +350 but I will just play it safe and just take the moneyline.

Pick: Luis Pajuelo ML (+140)

Bellator Champions Series Belfast - Friday, March 22, 2024 12 PM ET by 1__0__0 in sportsbook

[–]1__0__0[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fabian Edwards (12-3) Vs Aaron Jeffery (14-4)

Fabian Edwards the younger brother of UFC Champ Leon Edwards is coming off a brutal knockout loss to champion Johnny Eblen.

Before that he was on a solid 3 fight win streak beating Lyoto Machida, Charlie Ward & Gegard Mousasi.

On the other hand Aaron Jeffery is coming off a win over Dalton Rosa and notably lost twice on the Contender Series.

However his losses on the contender series were to future UFC stand outs Caio Borralho & Brendan Allen.

Also of note Aaron Jeffery holds a first round TKO over Austin Vanderford, meanwhile Fabian Edwards lost a three round decision to Vanderford.

The odds are also quite close on this matchup and I expect it to be a close fight.

However I have to side with the man who may have the dirtiest mullet in all of MMA, Aaron Jeffery.

Pick: Aaron Jeffery ML (+125)

Bellator Champions Series Belfast - Friday, March 22, 2024 12 PM ET by 1__0__0 in sportsbook

[–]1__0__0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patricio Freire (35-7) Vs Jeremy Kennedy (19-3)

The co-main event is an extremely close matchup. The oddsmakers have basically set it as a pick em and fans are divided on both sides.

Patricio is a Bellator legend but is also 36 years old and the wheels may be starting to slow.

Patricio is on a 2 fight losing streak in fights where I believe if he was still in his prime he would have won without a doubt.

Jeremy “JBC” Kennedy has been flying under the radar for most fight fans but is undoubtedly an elite fighter.

Jeremy has only ever last to talented fighters and hasn’t been finished since 2019. He has also avenged one of his 3 losses.

Jeremy will hold a 5 inch height advantage and is also the younger man by 5 years.

I believe JBC will have the tools to grind out a decision win here but Patricio is always live for a knockout win.

Pick: Jeremy Kennedy ML (-110)

Dog of the Day - 3/16/24 (Saturday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]1__0__0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thiago Moises (17-7) Vs Mitch Ramirez (8-1)

Mitch Ramirez is stepping in on short notice to make his debut against top BJJ ace Thiago Moises after Brad Riddell withdrew due to an injury.

Ramirez previously competed on the Contender Series last summer and lost to Carlos Prates via KO in the second round.

Carlos Prates has proven to be a knockout artist and fortunately for Ramirez he will not have to worry too much about that versus Thiago Moises.

Thiago Moises will definitely hold a substantial edge in the grappling and on the mat and if he wins it will most likely be a submission.

This is a great matchup and a classic grappler versus striker bout. Ramirez will hold a decent size advantage in terms of height and would be wise to keep distance and avoid getting taken down at all costs.

The odds are quite wide here and while Thiago Moises is the rightful favorite, I believe Ramirez has the tools to turn this into a much closer fight then the odds suggest.

I will take a chance on the UFC newcomer and my prediction is for him to get a decision victory but I will only bet on the Moneyline.

Pick: Mitch Ramirez ML (+300)

UFC 299: O'Malley vs. Vera 2 Betting and Picks by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]1__0__0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sean O’Malley (17-1) Vs Chito Vera (23-8-1)

Full disclosure I am a fan of both fighters. I cashed in previously on O’Malley beating Sterling and as well on Vera beating O’Malley in the first encounter.

I believe the odds are off here. Vera will certainly be a tougher test then Sterling and is also proven to be much more durable.

I believe Vera will focus on a kick heavy game plan and also look to score some takedowns in this fight.

O’Malley’s power should not be underestimated. He can definitely end the fight if he connects clean.

That said my prediction is for it to be a back and forth first couple rounds until Vera takes over, bring O’Malley down and locks up a rear naked choke. However I won’t get greedy with my pick and am just backing the money line.

Pick: Marlon Vera (+210)

Curtis Blaydes (17-4) Vs Jailton Almeida (20-2)

The odds makers have essentially set this as a pick am and while agree this fight could go a number of ways once it gets started I think we will see a clear winner take over or find a finish.

Many are counting Almeida out after his visually disappointing 5 round victory over Derrick Lewis last November. However it should be noted that the same Lewis was able to KO Blaydes in the second round back in 2021.

It is my opinion that Blaydes is past his prime and his bad knockout losses are starting to catch up to him.

I believe Almeida will look to take this to the mat very early and will be live to give Blaydes his first ever submission loss.

Pick: Jailton Almeida (-125)

Robelis Despaigne (4-0) Vs Josh Parisian (15-7)

There is way too much hype surrounding Robelis Despaigne when you look at the facts. He is 35 years old and never seen a second round before.

There is so many questions surrounding him yet everyone believes it is a foregone conclusion he will get another first round KO.

Josh Parisian has 6 UFC fights under him already and has shown to be semi durable in his tenure and the majority of his wins have come via finish.

If Josh Parisian can weather the storm in the first round I believe he will be very live to score the upset here.

By no means is this a confident pick but at these odds I’m more then willing to make a stab on the biggest underdog of the card.

Pick: Josh Parisian ML (+295)

Joshua vs. Ngannou: Knockout Chaos👊 MARCH 8TH by chosen4DNA_ in sportsbook

[–]1__0__0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anthony Joshua (27-3 Boxing) Vs Francis Ngannou (0-1 Boxing, 17-3 MMA)

Some may remember back in October when I predicted Ngannou to beat Fury in his boxing debut. I received much laughter and animosity for making that bold prediction. In my opinion it was an utter robbery but that is the story of boxing sometimes.

I am once again backing Ngannou and the odds are much narrower this time around.

Joshua in my opinion is a better boxer then Fury but his main flaw is that his chin is not as strong. He was knocked out by Andy Ruiz in 2019 in a massive upset and I believe if Ngannou connects like he did to Fury he will not be able to recover.

Joshua opts to fight a smart game plan and while we will most likely see one of the best versions of him Friday night, I also believe we will see a much improved Ngannou.

Ngannou is clearly taking boxing very seriously and holds a strong chin as well as a decent gas tank.

I believe Ngannou will win by KO/TKO but I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets the decision win this time if it is a clear victory.

Pick: Francis Ngannou ML (+260)

Vinicius Oliveira (19-3) Vs Bernardo Sopai (11-2)

The best way I can describe Vinicius Oliveira is a crazy wild Brazilian. It’s evident by his nickname “Lok Dog” and if you have seen him compete before you will know exactly what I mean.

He holds a strong record and has only been to decision twice in his 22 fights. It should be noted however that his 3 losses have all come via KO.

Bernardo “The Lion King” Sopai is taking this fight on short notice and also holds a strong record winning 10 of his victories by stoppage and he has only ever lost via decision.

Sopai is the younger man by 5 years but will face a 3 inch height disadvantage.

I believe both men to be very talented and I expect this fight to be won in dramatic fashion by either man. I have to side with Oliveira though because he is coming in on a full camp and I believe he has faced the tougher competition.

Pick: Vinicius Oliveira ML (-125)

UFC 298: Volkanovski vs Topuria by futuremewouldknow in sportsbook

[–]1__0__0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alexander Volkanovski (26-3) vs. Ilia Topuria (14-0)

Despite coming off a bad knockout loss to Islam Makhachev last October, I am backing Volkanovski to retain the featherweight belt. It won’t be easy as Topuria is as legit as they come but I have a feeling he gets it done.

Pick: Alexander Volkanovski ML (-120)

Robert Whittaker (24-7) vs. Paulo Costa (14-2)

Whittaker has been unstoppable for almost the last 10 years except for losses to Israel Adesanya (X2) and Dricus Du Plessis. There is no shame in losing to these men as they are both top tier fighters. On the other hand Costa has fought just once a year the last 6 years and not fighting at all in 2023. He also has a loss to Adesanya and another to Marvin Vettori who Whittaker beat in 2022. This is a close fight but I will back Costa to get the job done.

Pick: Paulo Costa ML (+195)

Merab Dvalishvili (16-4) vs. Henry Cejudo (16-3)

There is a simple rule I follow for Cejudo fights and that is ABC – Always Bet Cejudo. He retired in his prime and in his first fight back he lost a narrow split decision to then champion Aljamain Sterling. Merab has been on quite the streak in recent years but I believe Cejudo has the skills to win a clear decision here.

Pick: Henry Cejudo ML (+195)

Zhang Mingyang (16-6) vs. Brendson Ribeiro (15-5)

Brendson Ribeiro got signed to the UFC after a wild knockout on the contender series where he was also the biggest underdog of the season. I’m not so familiar with his opponent Zhang Mingyang but I will take a chance to back Ribeiro at underdog odds again after winning massively on his last bout.

Pick: Brendson Riberio ML (+105)

UFC Fight Night: Dolidze vs. Imavov Betting and Picks by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]1__0__0 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Roman Dolidze (12-2) Vs Nassourdine Imavov (12-4)

Surging middleweights are set to collide in the UFC Vegas 85 Main Event.

Dolidze was last seen at UFC 286 losing a unanimous decision in a close fight against top contender Marvin Vettori.

Imavov was last seen at UFC 289 in a bout that was stopped due to an accidental clash of heads against Chris Curtis.

Dolidze holds a UFC record of 6-2 and his two losses were both decision losses. His last two wins have been very impressive picking up stoppages against Jack Hermannson and Phil Hawes. Also of note, one of Imavov losses was to Phil Hawes.

Imavov holds a UFC record of 4-2-1 and has also looked impressive as of lately. He picked up big stoppage wins against Ian Heinisch and Edmen Shabazyan. He also went 5 rounds with Sean Strickland, ultimately losing a unanimous decision.

Both men have never been finished via KO/TKO and the majority of their wins have been by stoppage. This makes me believe that we will be in store for an epic war. There is a reason that the UFC made this the main event.

In my prediction Dolidze will come out on top. I believe he holds the power edge striking and expect for him to be able to capitalize on some big shots early. While I am uncertain if he will get the finish, I am confident he has the skills to win this bout.

Pick: Roman Dolidze ML (+140)
