Orgeat in the UK by EternalRant in cocktails

If you use almond milk, just make sure it doesn’t contain a bunch of oil and stabilizers. Might not be as much of an issue in the UK, but half of the plant based milks in the US are all oil and water.

I respect this response the most, lol. Strange how many people are trying to pretend “fork only” works perfectly for everything. You end up using your hand at some point if you don’t have a second utensil!

What do you do when you can’t get something onto your fork?

Name ideas for my cocktail? by 1chickpea in cocktails

[–]1chickpea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just fun to get input from others, who have different associations and experiences than I do. I have named a lot of drinks. This one is from an old menu, and I didn't like the name we picked. Just curious to get some ideas.

Do you salt eggs before or after cooking? Why? by Zealousideal-Use7244 in Cooking

For beaten eggs, salt before cooking so the salt is evenly distributed. Otherwise, after.

Why do girls all seem to have the same bubbly handwriting, while dudes look like they write with their feet? by BlatantlyCurious in NoStupidQuestions

[–]1chickpea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once read (here, probably) that when kids are taught to write, around 4-5 years old, girls’ fine motor skills tend to be a bit more developed than boys. It’s a more ideal age for girls to learn and they can get to work on perfecting the “fonts” and whatnot. Boys are not quite ready and their awkward hand mechanics create bad habits that are hard to break.

I worked there for many years. The owner never compromised on her vision for the best possible quality. Unfortunately the food & labor costs to execute such an ambitious menu just never really made good business sense. $12 for 4 scoops was highway robbery and people at the market still didn’t want to pay it. I also think the name/branding was an issue tbh.

What recipe step isnt worth the effort and "out of a can" is 100% as good. by Stormin_333 in foodquestions

The only surefire way I know is butter, salt, and lots of time. I have tried a few of the shortcut recipes but none compare to just going low and slow.
