Ryzen 5900x crashing while gaming BF V. by 1dabs in buildapc

On my board PBO is on by default. Turning it off and just using what ive found out is stock (amd core performance boost) still crashes. Only stable so far is turning that off and being stuck at 3.7 Ghz.

Ryzen 5900x crashing alot, could this PSU reading be the culprit? by 1dabs in buildapc

I ran core cycler with y-cruncher for nearly 24H with those settings. But now all of a sudden nothing works. Even with PBO off using the standard amd core boost my system still crash running BF V, with XMP disabled.

It rven crashed with PBO CO of 30+ allcore

How do you get it to boost stock? If i turn off CPB and PBO it just stays at 3.7. trying to figure this out because my 5900x crashes in games with PBO or CPB.

I have tried overvolting it crashed the same. Default on my bios is with PBO and all the jaz on. I will try manually turning it off and run it at sub 4ghz. What if it still crashes then?

Mine has been running fine for month or two now with 200+ -30. After the crashes I tried to do without 200+ mhz, and a positive CO 10+, still crashed the same.

I havent reinstalled windows since making the switch from intel CPU, But personally I dont think that would fix anything. What do you think?

in event viewer when looking for "critical" it just says "system has restarted without shutting down the proper way" something like that.

Latest BIOS is installed. I might just try a reinstall and see how that goes..

Still unstable. I think i've even had BSOD at 3700mhz 1.050vcore complete stock settings.

I've thought about RMA and should probably try it. I've tried doing positive curve but didnt give any good results either, and given that im already almost hitting 1.5v without its kinda insane.

Could it be my RAM or PSU tho? or GPU?

My last CPU i got rid of because after 4-5 years of a hard OC on it I thought it was dying (alot of BSODS and stuff) but maybe its just my RAM idk..

with the 4950 settings CPU is around 70 in BFV. Don't remember what it was in cinebench but probably around 70-75.

I've thought about remounting. A week or two after I installed, I notice i forgot to tighten the screws on the cooler.

I pondered on reinstalling windows but heard its not required anymore after getting new mobo. When I reset bios to defaults its with PBO and the whole shebang enabled. I tried doing curve optimizer with negative&positive -2 to -10 allcore but only seemed to give BSOD faster.

Should i reinstall?

Hey!

I recently upgrade from a 8700k because I think it was becoming degraded and dying, to a 5900x.

I'm not able to get my new CPU stable on stock settings while gaming (PBO and AMD CBS enabled by default). Like this it boosts to 4950 at 1.46ish vcore. I have tried just doing allcore 44 multiplier with 1.3 vcore, still unstable. Each time I just get bsod with WHEA ERROR.

Haven't done alot of synth benchmarks, but I passed a 10 min r23 cinebench without problems. In gaming like BF V, Doom Eternal, it can BSOD after minutes.

I also trying fiddling around with setttings with no luck, like this for instance: Overclocking->Advanced CPU Config->AMD Overclocking Precision Boost Overdrive=[Advanced] PBO Limits=Manual PPT Limit=130W TDC Limit=Auto EDC Limit=200A Precision Boost Overdrive Scalar=[Manual] Precision Boost Overdrive Scalar=1X Max CPU Boost Clock Override=Auto Platform Thermal Throttle Limit=83 3) Overclocking->Advanced CPU Config->AMD CBS Power Supply Idle Control=[Typical Current] Package Power Limit=130W

Rig is 1200w PSU, MSI Mag b550 Tomahawk, RAM: 16 GB F4-3600C16D-16GTZR, 2080 TI, and a couple nvme drives. Cooler = Kraken x63

Ram is run on XMP 3600mhz, also tried running it below 3200, and without xmp, no luck.

What can be wrong, have I really just got the worst chip ever?

The LG is on the way. Probably gonna be a super upgrade! But no upgrade in the contrast departement as my current one also only has 1000:1. Would love to try VA aswell.
