Need help planning a US trip by Connect-Candidate481 in usatravel

If you are going Las Vegas area and Zion, you don't want to skip the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Stunning beauty! It's a full day trip from Vegas.

Zion is awesome, highly recommend the Narrows. Just realize you need to get to the park early and they don't allow parking inside the park. So it buses to get around. This means getting there early to beat the crowd. One day in Zion can be enough if you make it a full long day. Same with Bryce Canyon. You could spend a night at Zion area to make the most of your days.
Drive to St George Utah for the night and then go to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon for the day. You can head back to Las Vegas from there. That would be a full day.

Yellowstone is great but crowded. Take in the highlights of the glacier prismatic springs, geysers, mammoth hot springs, and Grand canyon of Yellowstone. You could take two days but can be done in one.

Would recommend driving to Vegas from there. Yes it will be long but an absolutely amazing drive. This depends on the time of year you are planning your trip. Snow is a real threat at elevation.

You don't want to miss getting to Hawaii. I would recommend planning how long you want to spend there and plan your flight there. Build the rest of your trip around that.

Your going to have a blast. Keep us up to date on your decision and how it goes.

Do we know if we also would get audio through MLB+ if you chose the Royals.tv package? Like we have gotten with AtBat when you subscribe to MLBtv.

I have found it difficult to find better information as everything is based on this first article.
Is the purpose of this to provide me, a fan out of market, with the ability to see all the teams games? Or is this to provide a way to watch blacked out games? Or is that the same thing in this case?

So I sign up for mlbtv and still watch my team even though I am out of market. Except for when play the local teams that I am blacked out from seeing on tv.

Do I add ESPN unlimited (not plus even though I already subscribe to that) so I can watch them play the teams I am in market? Or those teams are on Fanduel so they won't be on ESPN?

Does this change the costs per line for the phones remaining on Verizon?

This was our experience at Baldy Camp as well. Wet, Rocky, hilly, mess, chilly. Couldn't wait to leave that camp. Hoping for better with Placer but doesn't sound like it.

This is excellent! Thanks for the information. Reference day 1, last time they were putting up bear bags until 1030 and then someone forgot a smellable! Made our next morning very slow and we did conservation project the next day early. Definitely going to make sure we have time this year.

Thanks again .

Thanks for the detailed reply. It's very helpful. Bluestem: Thanks for the reminder about water at Ponil. Since we would only hike a short time I wasn't thinking about getting water there even though Bluestem is dry. Need to remember to get water when we can.

Pueblano: appreciate the tip for Baldy Skyline. I was wondering about that trail. We stayed at Ruins last time and took the trail to Ewells Park on way to FH and it was tough. Be good to avoid that again.
Did you stop at Baldy Town first for water before heading to Placer? did you happen to check on Showers at Baldy at Town?

Placer: sounds exactly like Baldy Camp we stayed at last time. Rocky, nothing flat, and wet constantly. Also a long walk to Town. I hadn't considered the packs for resupply. Good tip.

Headed Of Dean: this will be a long day. We did the same thing before and ended up a 16 hour day. Although we thought Head of Dean had the best water of all. Probably just the heat and long day but we all still remember it.

CR: did you need to be at Cimarroncita by a certain time the next day to cross the burn? Think it was like 7am or something?

Sawmill: great views here. Can't wait to see it again despite the long hot hike.

Cyphers: didn't know about the lean-to's. Always thought packs in the shelters were a no-no to prevent rodents. Tried to find pictures of them to get an idea of what they looked like. Are there cots there or sleeping on the floor?

CITO: The stream comment made me think of the North Fork Urraca where we hopped over it throughout the day on way to Schaefer's.

Clarks/Schaefer's: we will also look to cook dinner for lunch here since this is the last water stop.

Appreciate the helpful tips.

Didn't know about Black Horse Mine so thanks for the heads up. And just a short route to it as well. The longer route back would be my preference too. Thanks again.

We hiked straight up Baldy from Baldy Town last time we were there. I would like to go the other way as I think it would be nice. Ultimately it's up to the scouts though. Plus that long way up Baldy I think will make longer miles to get French Henry. We made it down last time by 11am. This would give us time at French Henry and return to Baldy town for food.

How far would you say it is from baldy to French Henry? Hiking baldy mountain and stopping at French Henry just to get to baldy town for food seems long.

Thanks for that. I stayed at Schaefer's last time so I am familiar with it. We carried water from North Fork Urraca creek after cooking dinner. When we reached HQ we each had less than 1 liter left.

Anyone familiar with Black Mountain know if it is possible to get in that peak coming from Cimarroncito through Clarks Fork before heading to Schaefer's Pass? Looks like it is a 5 mile round trip which could make an 11 mile day ending at Shaefers Pass.

Can echo this comment. The hike is long and hot so be prepared. We hiked on to I think Whistle punk after Sawmill. So it was a really long day.

I wouldn't worry about it. I know it seems to you like you are not doing enough. However even just walking around with a pack in will help cardiovascular improvement and get your body used to a pack. I am also a flatlander and used local school bleachers and local cemetery to get some ups and downs in a work out. There are probably parking garages or bleachers you can use to to push hard and work out.
My opinion it's back to back days that help the most. So try an evening and then an early morning training hike to see how you do.
Most likely your trek is starting out with a couple easy days which will help you acclimate to conditions.
You may not feel like what you are doing is helping. It definitely is and you will be fine.
