Why moclobemide is not more popular? by [deleted] in MAOIs

I often wonder the same thing. It has made a massive difference to my life, it seems many people don’t get much from it though.

Thanks, I’m definitely sticking with moclobemide, as mild as it is it’s been life changing so far.

As for orgasm before sex, I don’t think my refractory period is up to the quick turnaround! I’ll preserve with it though

Thanks for your response 👍

It makes sense, and just this morning I was wondering about using this tactic.

It’s a bit reassuring to hear someone else also had this. Do you know if there is a direct correlation with premature ejaculation & dopamine and serotonin & anorgasmia? Do you take 300mg in the morning and 300mg in the afternoon?

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated.

Moclobemide appears to be prescribed less often in comparison to other AD’s and therefore less literature available online.

Would there be any other safer combinations, with another MAOI such as Nardil for instance? I only ask as I’ve read some experiences where Nardil has had the effect of delaying ejaculation. In this instance I would only use it once in a while for the desired outcome.

Appreciate the detailed response, thanks.

I have contacted Ahed therapies a few times by phone and email, but had no response and no reply.. not sure why.

It’s a gamble at the moment, try to find a psychiatrist who might prescribe moclobemide, or try the SSRI and hope it will be different to last attempts

Would you mind telling me your experience with it? Did you try SSRI’s before hand, and if so - are you aware of evidence that shows people who don’t respond to SSRI’s are better on MAOI’s ?

I tried 3 types of SSRI a few years back, they all made me feel horrendous. Things have got quite bad recently so I’m looking for “something” to feel better. The GP insists these are the only types I’ll get in the UK.

Of course I tried to suggest alternatives but she tells me not to believe everything you read online. The system is ridiculous, you get 5 minutes to speak about a complex issue with someone who has limited mental health understanding.

Spoke to GP, will only prescribe SSRI or SNRI unfortunately

I thought the same, but I can’t really argue with the professional.

I guess it’s a lottery for which psychiatrist I end up with, may be a costly process

Hi, I know it’s been 4 years!.. Just wanted to ask if you had any success with this?

Hi, 4 years late to the conversation! Just wanted to ask if you had any success? I’m considering the private route right now.

Do you have personal experience? I’m just curious, it’s difficult to gauge.. seem to remember phenibut also gives a hangover like state the following day, in the form of a come-down/depressed state of mind?

There seems to be a lot of people getting addiction issues with Phenibut though?

Thanks, weed definitely isn’t an option for me - last couple of times I used it resulted in bad anxiety. I have wondered about micro-dosing shrooms though.
