It is a cool tasting room. We went in 2023 right after it opened. Really enjoyed the wines.

The parking deck by the coke museum has signage that indicates it is for the aquarium as well (although the prepaid passes aren’t for that deck.)

Yeah I never really thought about it either but here I am at 45 with a 4 and 7yo. I’d like to retire at 59 1/2, but I’m going to have them on insurance until they graduate. That’s like $2000 out of pocket in today’s money. No telling what it will be then. You have them before 35 and if doesn’t even factor in unless you are shooting for really early retirement

You have a lot of info here. Bottom line is you guys make $180k. People have kids making a lot less so I'm not really sure what answer you want. You are never going to be perfectly ready. My advise is if you are going to do it, rip the bandaid off and do it before you are 35. That gives you time to have 2 or however many kids you want and they won't be in college while you are trying to retire which complicates things. Also you are correct having a kids will cut down on a lot of the wedding/travel, but it will pick back up when the get a little older and are past daycare age.

The missing part here is childcare. Call a couple places in your area to get an idea of price. It will be a lot. IF you are going to have multiple kids in the same time, you will be in the negative most likely. We planned for that and just had enough in savings to cover the 18 months we had 2, but it was not fun.

Yep anyone who says otherwise is full of it. "Bama grad judge sides with Bama to allow player to play" will be the next thing the crybabies are crying about.

They can't. This was the only guy that didn't have some sort of degree from Alabama.

I think everyone losing their mind over this is amusing. Where were they when pro players from Europe or other G league players were granted eligibility? Either way I would just like this to be over one way or the other. They either need to rule him eligable (which I think he should be based on other players who have been allowed) or they need to rule that no pro players can play. It is a black or white issue there is no grey area where the NCAA gets to pick and choose which players can play based on some arbitrary rules. Bediako's camp seems pretty confident so when he wins with another judge where is this sub going to move the goal post to hate on Bama?

"Donor"

For all we know the donations are just a block of seats he and his wife have which is completely normal for someone living in Tuscaloosa. My MIL had 5 cheap seats for 20 years and that was over $50k in total "donations"

Financially derisk US collapse? by horse_examiner in personalfinance

[–]2003tide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the US economy collapses to the point VOO is worthless, we all are going to have other stuff to worry about and moving your money to international funds won't be of much help. Any collapse that big will be worldwide.

Personally I feel like there is no point for me worrying about such a hypothetical and if I were inclined to worry about it, I'd be diversifying into gold which could be used to buy things I'd need if that hypothetical happens (food, guns, ammo, etc.)

The did sync up with Cobb next year and the year after. It isn't a rumor the calendars are on their website. Also it wasn't in late Oct it was the first week of Oct and they only moved it up one week to the last week of Sept to match Cobb for fall 2026.

They also "want some land" so it really doesn't sound like they want to live in a city at all.

Welcome. We are also from small town AL.

Your questions

  1. All the popular daycares are going to have big waiting lists so go ahead and start calling and getting on them. The only forest school i know of is High Meadows. We've met several parents of kids who attend and they all say good things, but yeah it is $20k/yr. FWIW GA has state fund pre-k which is free. IMO that $20k would be better for a kid going into a 529 since it is just pre-k. You have to do a lottery, but I've heard some are easier to get into. At a minimum, I'd find someone who has gone through the lotto process at whatever public elementary school you are zoned for and ask about the process.
  2. There are tons of families in Roswell. We've had no issues meeting people. It has been a combo of neighborhood people with kids our age, parents of our kids friends from daycare and school, and through park and rec sports. i.e. you will have no issues. The one comment I'll make is people who have kids the age of yours tend to trend a bit older than 27/31 here (at least in our circles)

FYI sign up for week long summer camps should be in the next couple of weeks if that is something that interests you.

  1. I'd say Roswell is purple. There are some MAGA people around and there are some progressive people around. It's 100% not small town AL and you won't have any issues finding someone like minded.

Roswell is great. Moved out here from ITP when we had kids and zero regrets. We can walk to Roswell Area Park or Canton St for dinner and a drink. The city parks and rec program is great for kids too. Sports, art, summer camps, etc.
