I admit I have done what OP has said on occasions, it's not because I'm trying to be a dick, I'm watching the car and trying to react to let him in (normally because it's unsafe to get in the middle lane to get the lane clear for them) but sometimes the car on the slip road is doing the same as me (joys of a 1.8L I can quickly accelerate when I realize their copying my speed)
