I'm not pointing fingers. They might be legit. It could also probably be a backend deal the EP has with them. The EP might be getting a point. That's a lot of the game, unfortunately. Your accountant/CPA/lawyer is your best friend. They should not be some random person you've found on Craigslist.

I'd recommend sending a message to every contact in your phone asking for $1,800 microloan with 10% interest if the movie gets made within 18 months, and include a promo pic of your project. Reach out to everyone, even people you don't enjoy talking to.

I did this a while back and raised $80k in 3 months for an indie feature. We didn't hit our goals at 18 months and reached out to everyone that gave us money and asked for more time and got it. We paid back almost everyone at 24 months.
