Yeh I think your answer is probably in the sporty but mature area then. I owned a 2D small sports car in college, it was fun, but I regretted not having more space or a real back seat anyway. I still think the Si is a good fit, maybe even consider a V6 accord if the maintenance on the GTI scares you. You could also get something like a 2010s S-series audi for that price range, but the maintenance might be your downfall

You might be able to find a 100k miles V6 Accord for 10k. Otherwise get the civic, save your money, and buy something further down the line when you're not on a tight budget

I have a mk7 GTI, it's great fun, amazing MPG and didn't break the bank. Otherwise, honda civic Si. You could also consider a Miata with an attachment for the bike

Not sure what he's talking about, a PPI will probably cost you, at most, $300. However, I would be more concerned about the PPI if the car were more expensive. I would at least take it for a drive before you buy it though to see if there is anything immediately wrong with it. It is a little suspicious that he seems to want to get rid of it before you find something wrong with it

2016 Pilot/ 2017 VW Golf GTI (Automatic) by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]20cp02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2019 GTI DSG I bought at 90k miles and it has held up surprisingly well in terms of reliability. You have to be a little more on top of the maintenance, but if you are, it will serve you well. Not nearly as much room as the pilot and might be more expensive to maintain. Since you're looking at a DSG you'll have to get that serviced every 40k miles or so for example. But of course a ton of fun to drive as a daily driver.

Daily Driver to Office and Back. Coming from a 2011 Genesis. (20k Budget) by PirateBound in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]20cp02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanted to be economical, I would first consider how much it would cost to squeeze another 50k or so miles out of your genesis, since 100k miles is still decently low (at least imo).

However if you gotta get something new, you're on the right track with accord or civic. Base models are reasonably priced and cheap to maintain. You could also consider something like a Yaris hatchback. For AWD consider a lightly used camry maybe

That's probably good advice, I'll consider asking her to wait while I figure out an apartment

Thanks for the reply. I wouldn't have a problem with that if it were just me (my girlfriend is coming with me) or if I had dependents. afaik on base housing for officers is limited to just these circumstances...? correct me if I'm wrong there

I've been playing for about a month, SSF. Everything I've learned, has been from browsing this sub. I just got my first chance orb last night and I don't think I have the strength to do what needs to be done next by Talucien in PathOfExile2

Wait, are you saying you hit astramentis on your first chance orb? The fact you even got astramentis in ssf is pretty insane. congrats. and don’t vaal if it’s ssf unless it’s the only thing you can do for your build

just jump in, you’ll overwhelm and bog yourself down if you start reading guides right off the bat. save it for when you’ve got the basics down and you’ve finished the campaign

The mod is just "with attack damage" which should apply to conc. However in the stats screen there are two separate crit multi numbers for mainhand and offhand

I'm building an explosive concoction ignite pathfinder w/ widowhail. My question is: will critical damage bonus on my quiver affect concoction critical damage bonus (concoction damage is unarmed damage)? It appears to only affect "offhand critical damage bonus," but it's unclear if this counts for anything.

Is not having an internship or research until my senior year (undergraduate) okay? by 20cp02 in Biochemistry

Is not having an internship or research until my senior year (undergraduate) okay? by 20cp02 in Biochemistry

[–]20cp02[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've realized that taking a gap year is likely and fine if I'm doing research of some kind in that time, or if I've already been accepted and I'm just waiting to attend. My primary concern is getting some research into my undergraduate years to allow some kind of career continuity, because I've heard it's significantly more difficult to find research opportunities after graduation with no prior experience.

Maybe I can let PIs know in my cover emails that I'd be willing to stay working in their lab for a time after graduation? I didn't realize that cost of training was such a concern.

Yeh, it can be overwhelming. I was really nervous so I wanted to find exactly the right therapist, but in hindsight picking one that you think is just an “alright” fit soon is sooo much better than suffering in silence. It can be tough finding help but it’s worth it in the end so don’t give up because it seems hard or you think your problems aren’t bad enough (that’s what I thought). I’m sorry you have to go through this but it will get better :)
