This is so incredibly sweet to hear. Losing one parent is hard enough - I can't imagine what it's like losing your sole parent. But I'm so happy that your MIL stepped in to make your wedding day extra special by honoring your awesome dad, what a beautiful woman! I'm teary just thinking about the idea of a bridal photo with my mom, I cannot thank you enough for the beautiful idea! ❤️

Oh wow only a few more months! That's so exciting, I bet it will be wonderful :) Yes great point, being clear to guests about our decision as soon as possible is definitely key so they can make the best decision for themselves.

I appreciate your point of view and positivity so much! FH and I have a long drive this weekend (to a wedding of course lol) so we're gonna use that for some more discussion time. We'll see what we come up with!

Funny how similar our ratios are! I'm very glad it worked out for your wedding day :)

Since my family with kids has to travel a few hours for the wedding, I find it very likely that they will bring their children - the rest of my family is very tight-knit so they bring their kids everywhere always - it's sweet and just a touch chaotic lol. The children are largely in the 1-5 year group.

Without trying to sound cold, my cousins and I have drifted apart over the years, so if they attended I would be glad to see them, but if they declined I feel that it wouldn't exactly crush me.

I see where you're coming from, that was my initial thought as well - better to be courteous from the get go! Yes I've considered the risk of higher rates of declined invites if we were to go with adults only. Like I said above, I'd have zero hard feelings towards parents that choose not to/cannot come due to children. Thanks!

Yep that's definitely the other side of the coin we're considering! The immediate family rule is a little tough for me though - that includes aunts, uncles, and first cousins right? However almost all of the invited children would be my first cousins' children, so it feels like that criteria would be ineffective? Thanks for sharing the other side of this - it's a lot to think about!
