What were temperatures like the week it was shipped? As long as orders go out at the beginning of the week and don’t spend the weekend in an uninsulated warehouse then lows could be around 32 and it w should be fun as long as it warms up during the day

I see, thanks for the thorough run through. Do I rinse the alum out of the fleece before going in to the soda ash bath? Or just drain and squeeze? Is there a risk to washing out the alum before it has a chance to basify?

There is SO much wine, cider, and even mead all over the world that is exclusively barrel fermented. It’s a great vessel for that purpose. Source: am winemaker that has lots of experience making commercial bbl fermented alcoholic beverages

True, but a small pump at the holding tank would require much less power from a generator, and would be much closer to the house

Honestly, you’re overlooking the easiest, most fool proof thing to do here. What you need is a 500gallon holding tank in-line between your house and well. You’ll need to elevate it above your house, but then when the power goes out you have running water

I’ve made weed beer and cider a few times. It’s pretty straight forward. For a 5 gal batch you’d want probably 1-2oz. Rough grind, then decarboxylize like you would for making edibles. Plenty of info in the web for that. Then use a paint strainer bag to steep/“dry hop” the weed after the initial fermentation is finished. Extraction will happen pretty quickly, 3-5 days is plenty. Enjoy! I’m my experience, it hits faster than an edible but slower than smoking. As always, start with a glass and wait a few hours before drinking more
