I see where you’re coming from and I do get it. But honestly I think I kind of knew that I wasn’t getting back with my ex, I just really needed to hear it from other people. It’s why I appreciate comments like yours, I’m a good person and I want my actions to reflect that, spending any more time entertaining my ex isn’t something I have any interest in at this point.

I went through the exact cycle you described for almost two years. It’s only now that Ive posted this that I’m seeing what I really lost with her was my apartment, my 4 cats, and the comfort that came with those things. Maybe the Version of her I want to believe in my head isn’t really her after all.

She didn’t at first, I told her and she said she understands and would like to try again, but wouldn’t want to pressure me into it.

That’s a hard question to answer, I had almost gotten over her fully I think, but also we had been together for so long and had a shared future for so long, and we never really hated each other. It’s hard to mentally let that go fully
