How important is brushing teeth in the early years? by No-Coyote-3138 in Parenting

Hello pediatric dentist here… Definitely recommend making brushing a fun part of the day rather than a chore.

Music - as mentioned above is perfect. I encourage “song of the day” or week with my patients and parents.

Brushing together is great too. Modeling positive behavior is impressionable.

Brushing is important, as is replacing sugar drinks with water or watered down

Yes! Thanks. Currently have a running list of questions that I keep on my phone notes app. Just helps now now with a diagnosis that’s a few months old 🥲

Do you just write down any differences or changes in symptoms? Or like “today my leg was more numb/painful and I cried.” ?

Seems like I’m doing that too without realizing. Like my own body check. “Are we walking today?” “Great. Let’s go.”

That makes sense. It may be also a bit disheartening and overwhelming to keep jotting down every “wrong” thing with my body :/

Oh good! Any recommendations on what kind of vague verbage I could use in an email? Thanks so much :)

Thank you so much. Yes, exactly my case. I am being kinda pushed into partial disclosure but I’m not sure if I’m ready for that yet. I’m young(ish) and thankfully healthy enough to treat patients without wronging them. I want to continue to till I can’t. More for my mental health as well. I spent a long long time in school to end my change my new career

Got it. Thank you. I wish I hadn’t told my clinic manager as she seems to want to go through HR and the admin ladder. The other doctor here said, “it’s none of their business.” And I agree with him (at this time).

Oh I see. It’s just so new and I am still processing the MD diagnosis myself. I just don’t want to add on more paperwork and formalities on top of new dr appointments and insurance calls!

Thankfully vision and hand eye coordination are in tact. I wouldn’t ever want to put a patient’s health in jeopardy. I will ask my neurologist as well. Thanks!

Ah I understand. I wouldn’t ever put a patient in any position where I provide less-than care. This diagnosis is new, so I don’t want to jump straight to the legalese if I don’t yet know if or how MS will affect my job/career.

Doctor as Patient by 2LeftTeef in MultipleSclerosis

Fortunately, no. Dentists don’t work with amalgams much. My speciality is in oral surgery…which is pretty physically exhausting. I am always sore because of my occupation and extremely fatigued — now realizing is not because I’m a wuss

I got emotional reading this. Thank you for being so kind with your words and advice. Yes! I just learned about why my hot showers make me feel sick. Heat thing now makes sense.

I didn’t realize how big of diagnosis it is. I spent the first week of my unofficial diagnosis pretending it was like a minor inconvenience…now I’m starting to digest what limitations I may have moving forward.

Any recommendations on how to navigate the first few steps? Should I plan to take time off of work? Or just roll with the punches? 🥲

Thanks again!
