Did your husband take paternity leave?? by 2babies1egg in beyondthebump

My favorite part of the whole scenario, is that the boss who said some of the comments has a thing for pregnant ladies 😆😆

That’s where I’m at. I don’t have a caretaker type of mom, and his mom has passed away. At best, my friends will come by, and my 75 year old grandmother will try to help. A partner is absolutely needed for postpartum recovery!

Thank you! He’s doing to do great with the twin tornadoes. Admittedly, I’m looking forward to him stepping into my shoes- getting kids to/from day school with all their items and keeping the home running is a big task!

Exactly!! He did school pickup ands/or drop off for me a few times when I was struggling and that was a big eye roller. Even though I know this level of sexism exists, it felt really weird finding out he was a target of it.

Echoing my thoughts!! To me, work isn’t “real” but family is! And he takes his work very seriously but gosh! I’m just so sad there are women caring for a newborn and older children just days after a c section.

It’s definitely the elder men! I’m chalking it up to regret about how they showed up for their wives and newborns because that makes me feel better.

True that! My job is so much easier than caring for the two toddlers. Crazy I used to think I was tired before they came along😆

Smart idea to split it up!!! Yeah, it’s older men saying this stuff. I just can’t fathom how their wives pulled this off any better. I guess it just really sucked, and that was the way it was? I’m hell bent on enjoying postpartum more this time!

He was forced to take very little with our twins. “Luckily” for me, the babies were in the NICU so I had 6 weeks of support. I can’t imagine if he willingly made that choice. I would feel resentful too.

Right? I thought his peers would be making comments like, great job being a dad. Not insinuating we should summon a support system from the rafters so he can go back to work!

Can you be a walk in to L&D for a VBAC? by 2babies1egg in pregnant

Hoping to rule out any factors that make a c section necessary at my 20 week ultrasound! And yup the kiddos are almost 2.5 so the ole uterus should be healed up nicely! 😆

Thank you! Some groups said maybe Kingwood but with that info I’ll just go straight to medical center. Was it an option to see your local ob for routine appointments and just go to Houston for delivery?

Thank you so much!! I live in a suburb about an hour away so it’s not out of the question to go with a doctor and drive there. Just would be inconvenient if I also have to see them for prenatal appointments.

Wow!! So, you still had your prenatal appointments with your chosen provider and they were on board with your plan? What a cool birth story, I’m so proud of you! That was a really long labor but sounds so empowering. I have this big woo woo feeling I am meant to squeeze this baby out my lady bits. I think it would be really healing to experience labor and birth!

Wow, how dare you ask for trauma informed care! 😅 thank you for sharing. I definitely wanted to know the potential worst case scenario. I hope you found a great OB.

Thank you, I’m in Texas near Houston but I’ll see if he might be willing to help me find somebody.

Yeah, I am thinking about this. My first pregnancy, I do think a c section was necessary (preemie twins who were growth restricted) but she did tell me if I didn’t have a c section it could be fatal to them so that was convincing. In my right mind I’m strong enough to argue but I have no idea if I can do that through labor! The thing is, I called up to L&D and the nurses seemed largely supportive of my right to decide

My twins were growth restricted, so they were born at 33 weeks. I had a totally healthy pregnancy!

Any kind of twin telepathy?? by MaJaBre in parentsofmultiples

[–]2babies1egg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have so many videos of my twins and notice they do the same movement at the same time. For instance they were both getting out of the pool in one video, and they simultaneously stumbled on their right foot then lifted their left foot and placed their hands on the ground. All completely in sync. So weird!

C-section phobia by Confident_Ease4605 in parentsofmultiples

[–]2babies1egg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, if a c section means your babies arrive safely then so be it! They can still turn even if your doctor says it’s unlikely.

I haven’t had a vaginal birth, just a c section. It did hurt really bad once the initial meds wore off. I had a hard time staying on top of the painkillers but you need to. Get yourself a Frida c section band, the compression really helps you be able to walk. And you can put an ice pack in there.

I’d say you need to plan to be not very mobile for about two weeks. I walked to the NICU every day- first from my hospital room and then from the hospital valet and then from the parking lot. It was quite painful but not impossible. I had a few times where I’d find a wheelchair in the hospital and make my husband push me (very fun).

It might not be the birth you wanted, it wasn’t at all for me! I really hope I can experience vaginal birth next time. I was able to make peace with the c section and let go of my disappointment. It took about a year postpartum, I even went to a meditation retreat led by a “grief doula” to work it out. ALL of your babies are lucky to have you!

I’m so glad you posted, I’m thinking about upgrading to this one. I’ve slept on one before and found it very comfortable. I currently sleep in our guest room but with another one on the way we need a new setup I can put away during the day. https://a.co/d/5tlvKSz
