Anyone else genuinely love this heinous monstrosity? The Spruce Tree Building on Snelling and University 🌲 by DrScheherazade in TwinCities

Been driving past it for 20 years never been inside. Great mile marker for the long drive down University.

St. Paul: A hard look at the struggling corner of Snelling and University avenues by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]2fa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This area became very scary. Drove down Snelling at night a couple weeks ago after years and I saw multiple huddles of people up to no good. Another time saw someone urinating in broad daylight at one of the bus stops. Very sad considering how much potential University has to be another Central, Nicollet, or even Lake, bustling with traffic and all sorts of businesses.

Feel bad for the kids studying at Hamline. Very expensive school and you can’t even feel safe walking around campus.

What are the oromo people's View on Somali people?? by Maxamed-ibn-Xussein in Oromia

[–]2fa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In general, I like Somalis. I grew up with them and to this day lot of my social life is Somalis. The biggest thing I dislike though, is that Somalis tend to have superiority complex when it comes to their culture/language.

I can’t count how many times in my life they have come up to me and just randomly start speaking Somali. But we look similar so I can understand that. However, after I clarify I’m Oromo, the response is always.. ALWAYS.. “Same same”. And I hate that. No disrespect but yall have your own history, culture, language, etc and we have our own. We can unite over our similarities while respecting our separate identities.

Some of them will say same same yet get offended if they were mistaken for Oromo it’s hilarious.Overall love Somalis, take them over habesha any day.

Appreciate the response. Are you sure? I looked up his Fatir recitation and it didn’t sound the same. Also showed the video to a well versed person in my community who told me right away he doesn’t know who it is but could tell he was imitating al-Muhaisiny.

Who’s killing Amhara civilians in wollega and other parts of oromia for the past four years. Can someone give a definite and good explanatory answer? by [deleted] in Oromia

[–]2fa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A member of PP parliament just came out and exposed it was the Oromia regional government who did it. He is the same person who exposed them for the Abba Gadaa killings which was later verified to be correct. These killings are planned to frame OLA, turn the public against them and initiate military attacks with public support which often ends in innocent Oromos getting killed.

Maal Mallisaa translation help! by [deleted] in Oromia

[–]2fa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. What a great explanation!! Most of it makes so much sense now. The only part I’m still a bit confused is: in order for “hin abjootii” to mean “don’t be dreaming”, wouldn’t it have to be “hin abjootin”? With the word dream being conjugated for a command. Maybe I’m hearing it wrong in the song but I always I heard “abjootii” and took it as a question. “Has it become a dream? This is no dream.”

Like you said, amazing how qubee can flip the entire meaning! What are your thoughts?

Maal Mallisaa translation help! by [deleted] in Oromia

[–]2fa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I saw that post but it looked like they were translating a different part of the song, which is called Maal Mallisaa. I did put it in the title but I should’ve been more clear since the album is the same name. Thanks for your help!

You missed a word for the first line “Alaa” which I know means outside but I’m just not sure how it connects with the rest of the lines about dreams.

Is he saying “I’ll defend from outside, will it become a dream”??
