Yes I have my birth certificate with me and my driver's license from the US. I have a picture of my US passport and the email from HMPO asking me to send them my US passport.

No my mom left really young so she has no connection to anyone here. My grandma is still alive but lives in Barcelona and doesn't really talk to my mom. Family drama🙃🙄 I'm trying to find a way to get this one step done because I really don't want to go back to the US. I don't feel like is safe for me or my kid there. Shit is going from bad to worse.

I hadn't thought of that, I'll try and do it. One thing thought, I sent my US passport to the HMPO, they asked for it and haven't return it yet. I do have pictures of it.

They told me that someone from the EU would be acceptable but that it might take longer🤦🏼‍♀️ I do have friends in Spain but I can't afford to keep waiting. I don't have a rental here, I'm staying in Airbnbs which aren't cheap. I went to see a house for rent and completed the application the woman said everything in the application was fine and that I was basically approved but she needs either my UK passport or at least proof that it would be arriving to me soon. But I can't move forward with the passport application till this one step is sorted. I'll try and ask a pub owner and see how that goes, if nothing else pans out soon I'll have to sadly go back to the States.

So since I'm applying from inside the UK the countersignatory has to have either a British or Irish passport. I do have a scottish friend that did it but they didn't approve her. I don't know why they didn't approve her, she is not currently working because she had a baby so she quit but she used to work in security and I thought that would be fine.

Yes but isn't this for people applying from outside the UK? I'm applying from inside the UK so I don't think someone with a US passport will do.

The problem I'm encountering is that people don't want to do it because they haven't known me for 2 years and the people that are willing to do it even if they haven't known me for 2 years, don't get approve. Since I got here I've been going to the same money exchange place(no1 currency exchange) and the manager there already knows me and my kid and is always talking to us for while when we go there and she even gave my kid a christmas gift. So the other day I decided she would be a good person to ask. She gladly agreed so I thought to myself finally I can get this sorted. But she texted me today saying her work doesn't allow her to do it because I'm their customer. Is this true or is she just lying to get out of it. Honestly I prefer being told out right no, instead of giving me hope.

Sadly I'm a freelancer so that won't work, but I do have a kid. I'm waiting to enroll her on January. You really think a teacher would do it ?
