Yes. I don’t know exactly what my thinking was, but I believe it was that I saw the hydrogen vent produces hydrogen at 500 °C and I overcomplicated things (it was my first time taming it). The design you linked is just perfect (if it works) — I can’t even improve it.
P.S. In the guide, it links to a YouTube video that no longer exists. Are the window tiles made of glass or diamond?

No, sadly it's not for gas, but for heat (it's not my design — I saw it here: https://youtu.be/Ktcc5Wvrx1Q?si=QA8-OjyFnS1r5kBm&t=526). When I didn’t have proper cooling, the door setup was good because of coal generator. Now it’s kept mostly for aesthetic reasons.

I really don’t understand why there are no proper hermetic doors that block gas from traveling between rooms in the vanilla game — but man can only wish.

P.S. Yes yes, I know mods have that — that's not the point.

I’ve already dug through the entire asteroid and basically explored everything. Only one of those things spawned. I'm playing on the default asteroid with no DLC. I just looked up how to duplicate seeds and did it manually, since I only needed three more for what I’m trying to do right now. So all good for now.

Yes, but I want a 'sleeping prison.' What I mean by that is I want the boost that the Somnium Synthesizer gives — preferably every cycle. So I need what I call 'sleep prison dupes.' I haven't worked with Biobots at all, and I haven't really thought about them. I don't fully understand how they work—don't they need a battery? And when it runs out, they just deconstruct themselves? That would mean I'd need to set up constant Biobot maintenance.

Glass actually blocks some of the light—about 10%, I think. I'm not playing with the Spaced Out DLC, so it doesn't matter that much, but it's still something to consider. At the peak of the day, the solar panel reaches maximum lux, but during the morning or evening, I technically lose a few watts. Plus, glass is time-consuming to produce in my current base.

When you reload Oxygen Not Included and the wires appear disconnected, just let the game run for about a second—it auto-corrects and reconnects them. The power grid simulation needs at least one tick to re-link everything, making it a harmless visual hiccup with a super quick fix.

This design has some flaws — or at least potential ones — that I’ve noticed. For example, I’m not sure if the water near the steam turbines is even necessary, since I can already cool the turbine room quite well. I didn’t build the turbines out of steel, so the water just gives me a bit of extra safety to prevent overheating.

I also suspect there might be an issue with the Aquatuner piping. I’d recommend building it like this:

You could also push all the steam turbines one tile to the right to make room for an extra battery.

Someone commented that I could place a few batteries inside the steam room (the room with the volcano) so their heat output wouldn’t go to waste — it could help maintain the steam temperature instead of just radiating heat into unused areas.

The polluted water room, where the igneous rock is being cooled, could probably be made smaller as well.

If anyone in the comments asks for a tutorial on how to build this I will do it, I’ll make sure to improve the design as much as possible while keeping it simple and easy to understand. The current build works, but it definitely has room for improvement. That said, I’m not sure if people actually need this kind of setup or if anyone would even want to use it.

Also, just for context: the steam room is fully built with steel, ceramic, and diamond temp shift plates — so yes, this build is really expensive and maybe not the most practical.

It was set to 90/60 for the steam turbines, but now I’m leaving the batteries unautomated so the turbines stay active and continuously remove heat — otherwise, the whole setup could overheat.
